most significant matters confronting this country and its people. Filipinos are struggling to survive in such
a tough environment, and an increasing number of them are sinking into abject poverty. As stated by the
Asian Development Bank, the key factors contributing to poverty are low economic growth, a weak
agricultural sector, rising population rates, and a high level of inequality. There are numerous
repercussions of poverty in the Philippines as a result of these issues, making it difficult for individuals to
live in such conditions.

Another societal issue confronting the Philippines is corruption. Inequality presents itself in a variety of
ways, the most prominent of which is the disparity here between the rich and the poor. The wealthy are
able to advance through power and wealth, while the poor lag behind. This increases tension and
disagreement, as well as emotions of pessimism and despair among individuals who believe they won't
ever be able to better their situation in life. Furthermore, corruption frequently results in a loss of trust in
government & organizations, as well as diminished effectiveness and efficiency. This presents inequality
in a variety of ways, the most prominent of which is the wealth disparity. Some people have a lot, while
others have almost nothing. This discrepancy is caused by a variety of factors, including educational
attainment, career prospects, and property ownership. The resource distribution that is unequal causes
friction and conflict, as well as a sense of pessimism among those who believe they will never be able to
succeed able to make improvements in life.

recent Save the Children report, one in every five women and one in every twenty-four males suffer
sexual assault before even the age of eighteen. This is really concerning given that sexual assault is
sometimes not acknowledged as a violent crime. Victims may be humiliated or frightened, which may
hinder them from reporting.
the abuse. Furthermore, many abusers are well-known to the victims and could be close relatives or
acquaintances. It renders it more difficult for victims to seek assistance.

Crime is another societal issue afflicting the Philippines. “Based from the DIDM (Directorate for
Investigation and Detective Management) data, covering the period from July 1 to November 30, 2021 vs.
same period 2022, there was a notable decrease of eight focus crimes from 16,469 for 2021 to 15,482 in
2022. A decrease of 1,167 incidents,” PNP chief Gen. Rodolfo Azurin Jr. said in a press briefing at Camp

as well as poverty, as well as poverty, drive numerous of these crimes, as people are prone to any means
required to survive. Nonetheless, there are countless cases of corruption and misuse of power that result
in criminality. This situation is exacerbated by many Filipinos' inability to get to justice.
