Audit of wheel shop

Audit of wheel shop has been carried out on dtd.09.08.2023. Following are the
observations of the same:

1. Serviceable machined ICF axle has been lifted by EOT crane in bunch of 4
and 5, Staff has been counseled for lifting only 03 nos. of ICF axle at a time
for preventing damage to the axle wheel seat.
2. In some of the newly pressed ICF wheelset, rail gauge value is +/-1 mm
varying compared to rail gauge value (i.e 1595 mm) set in measuring
system of wheel press machine. Staff has been counseled for maintaining
proper axial run out of casted ICF wheel disc during boring operation. As
due to excessive axial run out of casted ICF wheel disc, rail gauge value may
be different at 03 locations apart. Also instructed for improving the
measurement system from convention al contact type to laser based
measurement system.
3. In some of the casted ICF wheel disc entry radius in hub is of varying size.
Staff has been counseled for making constant entry radius in each casted
ICF wheel disc by proper adjusting the hub height value during machining.
4. All other procedures and activities found satisfactory.
