7. If there are two tasks such that they can be completed independently in 5 and 6 ways

respectively, then either of the two tasks can be completed in

b. 10 ways b. 11 ways c. 13 ways d. 30 ways

𝑺𝒐𝒍𝒖𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏:

Given, two tasks can be completed independently in 5 and 6 ways respectively.

By fundamental principle of addition, either of the jobs can be done in 5 ways or 6 ways

Hence, Total ways = 5 ways + 6 ways = 11 ways

8. John has 5 pairs of shoes and 3 pairs of socks. In how many ways he can wear them?

𝑺𝒐𝒍𝒖𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏:

John has 5 pairs of shoes and 3 pairs of socks.

So, he can wear it 5 × 3 ways = 12 ways

9. Find the number of ways can the letters of the word 'FIGHT' be arranged?

𝑺𝒐𝒍𝒖𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏:

The number of different ways of arrangement of 𝑛 different words (without repetition) = 5!

5 × 4 × 3 × 2 × 1= 120
