Introduction
VPN stands for virtual private network. A virtual private network (VPN) is a technology that creates a
safe and encrypted connection over a less secure network, such as the internet. Virtual Private
network is a way to extend a private network using a public network such as internet. The name only
suggests that it is Virtual “private network” i.e. user can be the part of local network sitting at a
remote location. It makes use of tunneling protocols to establish a secure connection.
VPN Requirements
Supported Internet Browser

• Microsoft Edge (New chromium version is supported too)


• Latest Google Chrome
• Latest Mozilla Firefox
• Latest Opera

Others

• Broadband connection, minimum 512 kbps


• IJN supplied PC & Laptop
• Up-to-date antivirus
• Windows update installed with latest patch(es)
• Smartphone (for Microsoft Authentication application)
o Android
o Apple iOS
Microsoft Authentication

Setting up

1. Login IJN VPN portal. Internet address: https://maya.ijn.com.my/vnet

Note: Please use desktop browser, not phone browse and own internet, not IJN Wi-Fi or network.

2. A Welcome page will appear. You will be guide to install a two-factor authentication application
(This case, we will use Microsoft Authenticator)
a. Download and install Microsoft Authenticator in smart phone or tablet

For Android: For iPhone:

b. Configure the Application by scanning QR code appear


i. Open Microsoft Authenticator application
ii. Add account

iii. Select Other account


iv. Store Backup Codes *optional
Note: This Backup codes can be used to access your account in event you lose access
your device and cannot receive two-factor authentication codes.
v. Enter token code that the application generates to welcome page
vi. Once successful, it will show like below.
Note: This is only for first time registration only
Connect to VPN

Using web portal

Designed for normal user to access web portal in IJN intranet and/or require access to IJN PC from
outside of IJN.

1. Browse URL: https://maya.ijn.com.my/vnet


2. Login using your username & password

3. Upon successful login, Pulse Connect Secure will request additional credentials.
a. Open Microsoft Authentication on your mobile or tablet
b. Key-in the One-time password code. This code will refresh/renew every 30 seconds
4. Once Authentication code applied, user will redirect to page below:

Note: There were 2 main category in web portal:

2. Terminal Sessions

1. To remote access IJN desktop in IJN, we encourage user to use terminal sessions for security
reason.

a. Specify your PC name (Hostname or IP address) and click Launch in Terminal Sessions
b. Download application launcher. Click Download (If not yet installed).
Note: If application launcher is installed, it will automatically ask for Open external
application as in step d.

c. Follow instruction once application launcher has downloaded


Once installed, click here as below screenshot. We recommend selecting

d. Internet browser will appear to open pulse secure application launcher. Tick Always
allow and open Pulse Secure
2. Remote session to selected terminal sessions will establish. Please login using your network
ID and password.
Note: Your Remote Desktop session visual appearance might be low. Please refer FAQ below.
3. To end your session, please click X on top of your screen
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

1. Question: Searching for application launcher loading infinitely


Answer: Please click download and follow the instructions
2. Question: I have installed application launcher, but searching for application launcher
still searching infinitely
Answer: Please refresh the page by clicking HERE, as instruct in the page:

Or, refresh the whole page again.


3. Question: I have installed application launcher, but when trying to launch, its keep
loading and finally failed, Detected an internal error

Answer: For temporary, please disable your antivirus


4. Question: Cannot connect to remote desktop
Answer: Please contact MIS helpdesk, and provide your username and PC name.
5. Question: I have provided my username and PC name, but still can’t establish remote
session to my IJN PC
Answer: Please power on your PC
6. Question: Ouch! My Remote Desktop session looks awful. Can you improve it?
Answer: Color depth has to be enabled to 32-bit (True Color). This must be done on user
side. Login as a user, in homepage, click Preferences > General > Remote Desktop
Launcher, and set the Color Depth to 32-bit (True Color)
7. Question: When I click Launch after specify my PC name, this error appear after I have
key in my username and password

Answer: Please provide your username and PC name to MIS helpdesk.


8. Question: I used to connect webmail using VPN bookmark, why the link gone?
Answer: For certain website or application, there was no need to login VPN to use it,
such as:
a. Webmail/Email: https://webmail.ijn.com.my
b. ERMS: https://erms.ijn.com.my
c. Self-service (Change password & unlock account): https://selfservice.ijn.com.my
9. Question: Where did ERMS bookmark gone?
Answer: Refer above Question (Item 8)
10. Question: My problem was not listed here, what to do now?

11. Question: How to enable remote session to provide remote support for helpdesk or
others?
Answer: Please go to https://anydesk.com and download the installer. Please provide the
number generated by the application to helpdesk
