SecureCom-GSM UNIVERSAL Communicator

USB connection
to connect to PC USB port and then the setting PC
program of the communicator storage can be started

Antenna connector
GSM 900/1800MHz antenna with SMA connector

Simulated PSTN landline output (T/R)

Contact inputs to be for COM, negative
voltage
Power supply input

Installation
USB power is not sufficient for the operation, however, the voltage outputs (AUX) of
alarm control panels are generally compliant.

• The TIP/RING communication line of the alarm control panel needs to be connected
to the TIP/RING input of the communicator.
• Place the SIM card into the SIM card slot of the device.
• Connect the antenna.
• Power up the device.
Connect the USB cable, run the software and configure the communicator.

PSTN landline simulator with 2 contact inputs and 2 different functions as below:
Functional description
In Standalone mode the unit behaves like a monitoring station receiver which receives
and handles the CONTACT ID communication of alarm control devices. It compares the
report codes with the filled in event codes of the program table and at the occurrence of
the desired event it sends the assigned SMS message and initiates a call alarm. By this
means the users of the alarm control panel can be notified of any signals.
Further function is that by controlling the contact inputs the communicator sends the
assigned SMS messages and calls the pre-set telephone numbers.

In transparent mode fully replaces landline and transmits data to monitoring station if
PSTN landline is unavailable or disconnected. By this means the alarm control panel can
send the report codes in CID.
By controlling the contact inputs the communicator immediately sends the CONTACT ID
messages assigned to the inputs to the given monitoring station number and this way
preceding the signalling time of the alarm control panel’s complete communicator with
precious time.
Setting of this mode can be done with the PCB program on the USB drive.

Main features

• 2 separate modes of operation in one device

• PSTN line simulation for monitoring station signal transmission

• SMS/CALL about 32 different kinds of CONTACT ID reports

• Signals to 4 telephone numbers

• 2 contact inputs with independent signals SMS/CALL

• Handling SIM PIN code

• Forwarding SMS

• Setting and diagnostics via USB connection

Technical specifications
• Power 9-30V (DC)

Power consumption 300mA (max.) / 100mA (idle)

• Telephone line data

Line voltage 48V
Loop current 25mA
Load impedance 100-470 Ohm
Dial tone 425Hz

• Operating temperature 0…+70°C

• Size 40x75x15mm
Configuration
To start setting first the USB port of the device needs to be connected to PC and then run
the setting program in its memory. (Compatibility: Windows 7, 8.1)
At the start of the program or the connection of the device to the PC the setting program
reads out and shows the actual setting.

State reports

SIM status Waiting / OK / PIN request (Connecting / OK / PIN request)

GSM signal A value between 0 and 31, from 16 it is appropriate
Line state ONHOOK / OFFHOOK (idle / active)
Z1 input state IDLE / ACTIVE (idle / active)
Z2 input state IDLE / ACTIVE (idle / active)

Communicational event messages:

Dialed The number dialled by the alarm control panel
CID The CONTACT ID code sequence sent by the alarm control panel
Z1 Event Activated input one
Z1 Restore Input one got back to default
SMS sending Sends the SMS messages belonging to the event
CALL(1) Calls the first set number
DTMF recd. According to ACK setting, got DTMF code, that is reception
acknowledgement from the notified number

USB USB connection state (Connected or Disconnected)

General setting
Operating mode STANDALONE (stand-alone) or TRANSPARENT (monitoring station)

PIN code entering the PIN code of the SIM card

SMS forwarding forwarding incoming informational SMS (e.g. balance)

to the given telephone number

Z1 input setting contact input’s sensitivity and type

Z2 input setting contact input’s sensitivity and type

Phone numbers user phone numbers where the unit sends the signal in the form of SMS
and/or call (to maximum 4 numbers) in case of ACK setting, at the call
requesting an acknowledgement code from the called device but calls the
same telephone number maximum 3 times

Progress bar
Moving data between the PC and the device
Reading out data from the device happens automatically as soon as connection is
established. Settings can be saved to PC or read in from PC. Upload needs to be done
after each change!

(File_reading / File_saving / Upload to device )

IMPORTANT NOTE: if the program’s settings are modified, modification needs to be
uploaded onto the device at each time!

Operation modes
Setting the operation mode can happen according to the below 2 options:

I. Standalone mode

In this mode the device expects to receive CONTACT ID signal codes in the format
defined in the standard.

ADEMCO CONTACT ID meaning format, see below:

SUBSCRIBER EVENT EVENT CODE PARTITION ZONE or USER

ID QUALIFIER XXX XX XXX
XXXX Event or
Restore
8556 1 401 01 001

In the example to /8556 18 1 401 01 001/ CONTACT ID code ANGIE left home SMS
message is generated and sent to T1 telephone number.
The desired SMS and call to the CONTACT ID codes can be entered in a table according
to the below way:

Code E/R Part Zone / C1,C2,C3,C4 SMS S1,S2,S3,S4

User message

3 digit E: event 2 digit 3 digit zone or Telephone SMS Telephone

CID code R: restore partition code user code numbers (T1-T4) message to numbers (T1-
designated to be sent if a T4) designated
voice call code occurs to SMS sending

• Maximum duration of call alarm is 20 seconds including the ringtime.

• If „ACK” reception acknowledgement is set, it tries to notify the telephone number
three times, except if a character of the notified telephone’s dial is pushed, which
means acknowledgement.
• If Part (partition) or Zone/User (zone/user) is not filled in in the diagram, that filter
will be disregarded, no matter what the parameter’s value is.

II. Transparent mode

• The event code (CID code) and identifier (Account ID) of the sent signals from the
contact inputs can be optionally set.
• The partition number in the message is 01 and the value of the zone in the message
is 001 and they cannot be changed.
• Communication format is CONTACT ID.
LED signals
The below LED signals show the communicator’s operating state. If there is fault, red
TROUBLE continuously, while green LED showing the cause of the fault blinks
rhythmically.
