SEPTEMBER 2011
Volume 3, Issue 1

Welcome to Team BBC!

T
Big university, small community

he Bulls Business Community started off the 2011-2012 academic year off strong, and, well into September, things are still very busy. With so much going on in the community and on campus, students are finding their place in the BBC, at Poplar Hall, in the College of Business, and at USF! Faculty and staff from the College of Business welcomed BBCers with a cookout. College of Business Dean Bob Forsythe took over the grill and prepared the food while the students got to know one another during a game of BBC Bingo. Prizes were given to three students who figured out which descriptions on their card was unique to faculty, staff, or fellow students in attendance. Everyone enjoyed meeting each other and celebrating the start of a new year. New to the BBC this year: a point system to recognize residents who attend a majority of the BBCs events and workshops, like the cookout, over the course of the academic year. The friendly competition has already begun! Students who attend and participate in BBC-sponsored events receive points (points vary, based on the event) and those who earn the most points will be offered opportunities to participate in events where attendance is selective or first-come, first-served, along with other special perks. The student who has accumulated the most points by the end of the year will be eligible for a grand prize. Keep up the great work team BBC!

BBC 2011-2012
I m p rov

What do aliens, tigers, and cows have to do with business? Ask any of our BBCers and they will tell you a whole lot. In the first session of improv, instructor Kari Goetz not only got the students to get to know one another better, but she also began to emphasize the importance of improvisation in the business world and how students can begin applying these concepts to their professional development. The most important take-away from this first session? The power of yes! Students were encouraged to say yes to new opportunities available to them at USF and within the BBC. There are many more lessons and games to come in the next three sessions. BBC - we hope you are ready.
