Connections Connections: What connections do you draw between the text and your own
life or your other learning?

1]The thought that we are innately built to realize what is good for nature and our
environments . All our anxieties and our worries are somehow an indication that we are doing
something harmful to ourselves and our surroundings.
2]The fact that we as human beings wont be vary of the problem until it happens to us. Until
there was a shortage of water at home I didn’t even really consider thinking about water
conservation let alone do something about it .It makes me think about how privileged I am to
be able to access such a valuable resource 24 hours a day.
3]In my paintings I often take a distinctive effort to represent ,imitate, or combine organic
forms because they give an authentic element to the artwork .I often find myself entangled in
my innate desire to connect with nature.
4]Consciousness- I was familiar with the idea that how how every living creature perceives
the world differently but deep diving into it really made me think about the filtered version of
things. I feel we create own realities and stories by choosing what is more comfortable for
ourselves and our surroundings often ignoring our instinctive inclination of curiosity as well
as respect of the environments that we live in.

ChallengeWhat ideas, positions, or assumptions do you want

to challenge or argue within the text?
1]I feel the text at some parts evokes too much emotional anxiety. Which even though really
works in the context which is meant for but it could have given hints of hope like a gray area
not a complete black with hints of white. Many people experience guilt or a moral dilemma
over their own carbon footprint and lifestyle choices. The feeling that individual efforts are
inadequate to address the magnitude of the problem can lead to a sense of overwhelm
2]Facts were just thrown around in highlighting the sensory features of various animals, but I
think a lot visually so maybe to appeal to larger audiencies of the diversity of the features
maybe storytelling could have been used. The idea that audience reading is already interested
in knowing the facts.
In such a different way the grandiosity of animal life could have been celebrated-
For example-
‘Sperm whales and other toothed whales use sonar rather than vision to find their food’
In the heart of the boundless ocean, where the sun's rays barely managed to penetrate the
depths, a group of magnificent creatures roamed. Among them were the wise and ancient
sperm whales, guardians of the deep, and their toothed whale companions. These creatures
were masters of an extraordinary ability that set them apart from the rest of the marine world
– sonar. They were the poets of the silent symphony, the architects of an acoustic
masterpiece.
Concepts What key concepts or ideas do you think are
important and worth holding on to from the text?
1] “Many sensory biologists have backgrounds in the arts that may enable them to see
perceptual worlds.” This essentially appealed me because it enables me to understand the text
better and why these details would apply to my ventures as a designer and help me explore
unexplored worlds. How looking at world from an animals perspective would eventually
increase my consciousness about the surroundings and with unrestricted imagination.
Symbolism and Metaphor: Animals' senses can be metaphorically or symbolically linked to
human experiences. For instance, I might use an animal's heightened sense of smell to
symbolize intuition or a heightened awareness of the environment. Understanding animal
senses might allow me to employ such symbolism thoughtfully.
2] Climate change anxiety is often intertwined with a sense of grief for the loss of natural
landscapes, species, and ways of life. The prospect of irreversible damage to the environment
can evoke mourning for a world that is rapidly changing. The difference between knowing
and realizing, The admitting of the problem and eventually acting on the solutions. Instead of
imposing the problems to the next generation, thinking about yourself as kids or innocence
exposed to a capitalistic and disruptive world.

ChangesWhat changes in attitudes, thinking, or action are

suggested by the text, either for you or others?
1] I think the text suggests changing our attitude towards thinking that humans have the peak
intelligence and divert our senses towards other animals to eventually attune ourselves to
think about the details in nature that are right in front of us.
2] Thinking that the impact of the industrial and commercial activities can be postponed for
another day. The business production models based on infinite supply and demand on a finite
land is not only absurd but also impractical.
