A350 FTE Call

March 19, 2019

1. .We continue to replace tires for shoulder wear with plenty of tread remaining. I would like to remind
the overnight stations to replace the tires if the shoulder wear looks close to limits to prevent replacing the
tires on a turn or having a flight crew question it during their walk around.

2. I added the LAV water deactivation information to the sharepoint site under documents ATA 38.

3. We continue to have (Com OIS Cab and Maint Redundancy) messages with a cabinet reset clearing the
fault. If time permits please do the OSFC Bite to determine what component is faulted so we can order parts
if the same component continues to fail.

4. NRT recently had a SATCOM fault that would not clear. There is an Airbus ISI (In-Service Information) on
known A350 SATCOM weaknesses. The fault can occur if the aircraft is powered through a GPU. See below
for the ISI details.

5. A/C 3506 had a delay RTB for #7 tire flat on taxi out. We have asked the tire shop to investigate and let
us know the findings when the tire arrives. Waiting on report.

6. A/C 3501, 3502, 3505 and 3506 have completed the Avionics Batch 5 S/W upgrade. 3503, 3504 and 3507
will be scheduled when 3513 enters service. Batch 5 consist of two SB's 42-P006 and 42-P007. These SB's
change 80 software part numbers.

7. A/C 3513 arrived March and is currently in ATL waiting for certification to fly to China and Korea. PTS
mod was completed on the 15th.

8. The EDP -06 upgrade has 1 more pumps to replace to complete the fleet. 3507 #1G

Applicability

All A350 fitted with SRT-2200A SATCOM (SDU P/N 822-2909-050) product by Rockwell-Collins.

Background

Several Airline reports have mentioned occurrences of FC 2328F59L, 2328F4E6 and/or 2328W010
without knowing whether it had an impact or not on the SATCOM and its applications (Cabin, EFB,
IPCOM, etc.). Several maintenance tasks have been performed to no results.

Description

On the above mentioned A350 SATCOM system, it has been confirmed that FC 2328F59L
(associated with FMC code 2010) or FC 2328F4E6 (associated with FMC code 1010) could
sometimes be considered as a spurious message, and FC 2328W010 could be linked to a
limitation of the system.

 FC 2328F59L (FMC2010) SCM-SATCOM 1(78RV1)

This Fault code means that SDU is unable to read IMSI 1 and 3. The failure stays present even
after reset/disconnection of the SCM during more than 5 seconds which should reset failure
code.

Following investigation, it has been confirmed that it was not enough for the SDU to simply
read or detect the USIMs in order to clear the FMC 2010. The USIMs must be registered on
the BGAN network in order for the fault to be cleared.

Once the USIMs are registered, the message disappears.

Should the Airline not use the SBB services, and therefore not register the USIMs, the fault
code and its associated message could then be discarded.

• FC 2328F4E6 (FMC1010) SDU-SATCOM 1(5RV1)

This Fault code means that SDU may have a cabin data processing function error. If the Fault
Code disappears during the flight, it should be filtered and can be disregarded (see ISI
45.00.00030). When the Fault Code stays present until the end of the flight and the
complementary data is equal to 0081, the cabin services are not lost and the system
continues to be operational.

In this case, if it is not confirmed by a system test, the fault code and its associated message
can be discarded. No maintenance action is necessary.

 2328W010 - COM SATCOM FAULT

This ECAM Warning originally means that the SATCOM is inoperative. It can be correlated to
DM 2328H011 or not. No FMC on SATCOM side.

In some cases, we have observed that when the Aircraft had been powered on through the
GPU, the SATCOM was not starting and COM SATCOM FAULT ECAM warning was raised
around 2 minutes after the power-up of the A/C.

In order to recover SATCOM in these cases, the applicable MP can be followed (usually
leading to a Hard Reset through C/B open/close).
