PROBLEM
SCIPCO had a huge inventory of unprotected equipment in their ware-
house. The warehouse is located close to the sea resulting in the equip-
ment rusting. The customer required a solution to protect their equip-
ment from corrosion while in storage.

APPLICATION
The large metal expansion joints were cleaned using VpCI®-422. Then
DATE VpCI®-337 was sprayed on the surface. VpCI®-132 foam pads were
May 2010 placed on the joints before being sealed using Milcorr® VpCI® Shrink
Film. The valves, actuators, shafts, and bearings were cleaned using

Shrink Film. Electrical panels and other electronic items were cleaned,

VpCI®-105 Emitters film. Boiler Tubes were fogged with VpCI® -309 and ends covered with
ElectriCorr® VpCI®-238 Milcorr® VpCI® Shrink Film; the boiler tube boxes were also covered
VpCI®-422 with Milcorr® VpCI® Shrink Film.

VpCI®-126 Prior to preservation, the customer had to replace tarpaulin covers ev-
VpCI®-132 ery six months because of the heat and humidity that damaged them.
VpCI®-309 For the past three years no replacement has been required since being
MilCorr® VpCI® Shrink Film protected with Milcorr® VpCI® Shrink Film.

CONCLUSION
Cortec’s full corrosion protection system offered an effective solution for the long term preservation of the customer’s
equipment. After two years the customer conducted an inspection and no rust was found on any of the equipment
preserved.
