The process involves problem identification of the current prison systems to

determine aspects that need improvement, areas that need to be erased, and
strengths of the current system that should remain to achieve a humane
environment for correctional facilities where prisoners can exercise their human
rights. Subsequently, the researchers conduct a review of related literature
regarding correctional facilities to gain a relevant, timely, and cohesive summary
of the perspectives of different researchers regarding the impacts of correctional
facilities on inmates during and after their sanction. A literature review allows the
researchers to acquire a deeper understanding of how living conditions affect
prisoners' overall health, relationships, and life after prison. Observation of the
inmates' routines is essential to come up with a user-centric facility to efficiently
and humanely cater to inmates as they serve their prison sentence
