There are police officers in every country, and in every
town and city. Police officers keep us safe in
our homes and when we go different places.
Some police officers walk, some drive police
cars and some even ride motorcycles or horses.
Police officers make sure people follow
the laws. When people break the law, police
office may take those people to prison in their
police car or give them a ticket. Being a police
officer can be a dangerous job. To be a police officer, you will
need training. You should be brave and like to work with
people. Police officers have a very important job in our
community.
You can often see them in the street. Perhaps you want
to ask a question: Where is the bus stop? What time is it? How
can I get to the supermarket? Find a police officer – he or she
can answer your question.
Detectives help the police. The police keep
the fingerprints and photographs of criminals.
Then detectives can catch the criminals.
This robber stole thousands of pounds from a
bank. He escaped from the bank but his
fingerprints were on the handle door of the
bank. Detectives followed the robber and
arrested him. Now he is in prison for ten years.
