February is National Arts Month (NAM), declared through Presidential Proclamation 683
signed by former President Corazon C. Aquino in 1991 “to celebrate the artistic excellence and pay
tribute to the uniqueness and diversity of the Filpino heritage and culture.”
In this national celebration, the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) is
taking the lead throughout the country. Lasting on a one-month basis, the Department of Education
gives the signal to each school to create various events intended for the fun and the importance of art
through our history mainly to the students with the advocacy and encouragement to everyone outside
the scope. With this, the respective school's Cultural Coordinator in partnership with the MAPEH
Department will be the one to conduct this special event.
The activities in line with this celebration partake in each learner's creative art skills and capabilities
to fully let them show, develop, and enhance with it through its exceed potential and take full pride
in the nation's artistic history. These activities may include learners involved in visual and
performing arts like Tigi sa Awit, Indigay sa Sayaw, and Creation of Paper Mosaic.
III. Objectives:
The activity is subject to happen for a minimum of 30 minutes and a maximum of an hour.
V. Target Audience:
The direct stakeholders of the school starting from the learners, teachers, and the whole
school is the main intention of why this activity has been proposed. However, this activity is also
persuading for everyone in with direct or indirect connections to the prior audience above is
welcome to join and participate to add distinction and elements on the activity when implemented.
VI: Activity Flow:
Selected students from each grade levels will be the ones to compete and
present their talents and skills in singing. The important part is to let everyone
emphasize that singing is also a form of art that depicts our art heritage both old and
new.
Anyone can take join and full charge of their own creations with the usage of
simpleart materials. But, the skills and techiniques on forming the final output do
matters, giving us deifnition and continuing legacy of our Philippine art culture and
tradition.
The preservation of artistic heritage in our country starts in a small way. That
is, to let our audience see, reminisce, and fill themselves the beauty of the recent
outputs presented and made on celebrating the National Arts Month.
