I saac Newton gave the world a completely new way of looking at and describing the
universe. He was born in 1643 in England. Newton’s mother wanted to make him
a farmer, but he hated farming. Instead, he went to school and took an interest in
studies of history and science. As a young man, Newton spent much of his time
locked in his home, studying and testing his scientific theories on calculus, optics
and physical laws. He was the first person to conclude and show that white light
contains all the other colors, and that we just see different colors reflecting
off objects in the environment. He also developed and published the laws of
motion. These laws showed exact mathematical calculations to describe natural
forces such as motion and gravity. It was a new way of understanding the world,
and it laid the foundation for many of the scientific and technological achievements
of humanity for centuries after his death.
