LISA’S KITCHEN
She rolls her eyes irritated at the sound of her son Imange
crying.She peaks outside through the window to see if the
rain has stopped and quite like her life she’s disappointed
to find its still raining, but a sudden rush of excitement
takes her as she sees her brother Sakhile racing to the
house dripping wet.
She closes the curtain to quickly attend to Imange.

Sakhile enters the house and rushes to change into warm

clothes and heads to the kitchen to make a cup of coffee.
She puts Imange down and goes to the kitchen to have a young
chat with her brother.

LISAKHANYA(20YEARS)
I got an sms from UJ informing me
that my LLB application has been
accepted
Her face brightens up like the rays of the sun after a rainy
day as if it was complimenting the change of weather outside
and the sun a beam of hope in her dull life. She screams for
joy but quickly puts her hand over her mouth remembering
that she had just put Imange down.

every struggle was worth it and lead to today’s joy.

After all the hard work the day has finally come Sakhile
goes to town to get the money he saved for Lisa at the bank
while Lisa packs and gets ready to leave the following day
for varsity.

As much as she’s excited but she’s also very anxious,in her

hood girls don’t make it that far and their greatest
achievement is marrying a man with a car, she was defying
the odds,breaking the chain.

She sits in front of the TV with Imange on her lap,she wants

to spend her last day with him as much as possible.

in hope of a miracle as if he’d see Sakhile appear and tell
him its okay dad I’m now watching over you.

The neighbors are holding a praying session and giving words
and sermons of comfort to the family.
