THE SYMPHONICS OF JOSE FLORENTINO

JOSE’ TELL- ALL ABOUT HIS LIFE BEING PART OF BULSU’S SYMPHONIC BAND.

BEING part of a symphonic or marching band in college takes an effort in things,

since they usually partake in all of college related activities, like sporting events, founding
anniversaries, concerts, and anything else that happened inside and out of campus. They need
to bring it out loud for the glory of the college and university. Every member of this band had
its own capabilities in playing their respective instruments to show their testament to the
band.
Most of them are students who are studying and getting a degree while they are in the band
because first, they have a talent to play their respective instrument, and second, they use it to
enter the university on their own scholarship. Yes, it’s a hard job for them, but they do this
anyway for the of it
One notable student here is Jose Lorenzo Florentino, a Journalism student of Bulacan state
university and concurrently, a member of BULSU’s symphonic band playing as a trumpeter.
He started playing the trumpet when he was in junior high at PBC Sunbeam School as part of
the scholarship. He played with the school’s symphonic band until grade 12. And currently,
he has played with other brass bands especially with the pulilan brass band since 215.
His life as a trumpeter for the university’s symphonic band was, he said, challenging.
Challenging that he states that every exercises and/or performance he takes with the
symphonic band, he learns a new things that are related to symphonic band, with Sunday
practices and lot of engagements in and out of campus, it really shows how challenging can
be to be part of symphonic band.
Also, in terms of bonding with his bandmates and such, he learned a lot on how to bear with
them. He learns that being in an organization makes you bear and be at peace with others,
especially with its members. He knows to adapt to these things so he can be at peace with
them. No matter what will happen or what is going to happen, just being at peace with others
is a new learning for him no matter what chances are willing to take.
His best experience being in the symphonic band is making himself proud because he is
serving the alma mater and making the university proud. He did not look for the incentives
but making himself and the college proud by being a trumpeter at the universities’ symphonic
band of such. Being proud because you serve at a university makes you proud in anything,
especially for yourself.
Well in terms of his studies he had a problem. Problem that he cannot get along with his
studies no matter what. He was usually absent most of his class and sometimes missed
midterms and finals. It came to a point that because of his engagements with the symphonic
band, he became an irregular student, yes it took a hard time catching up to his studies but,
this is his choice that he needs to stand in no matter what will happen.
As also a cultural performer himself and showcasing his talents in the symphonic band, he
said that the university was given enough equal opportunity to them, why? Because they tend
to showcase their talents inside and outside the campus premises and they create happiness
for everyone. They made things that people adore and made a smile and it boosted the morale
of the university no matter what. Seeing the happy faces and making them enjoy gives them
as cultural performers an equal priority to the university and this makes them prepared for
everything.
Inasmuch, Jose had experienced everything as part of the universities’ symphonic band, he
experienced many things that he can adapt to his own life. Even though it can affect badly ,
especially his studies. Well, he made this choice and he needed to stand in faith in these
That’s a testament of serving for the university whether you are a symphonic band member or
part of the college sports team, it makes a lot to make the alma mater proud in anything no
matter what will happen. Just like that, anything will happen whether it is hard or not. Play by
your choices and the way will lead to your path.
Being also a cultural performer doesn’t rely only on making people happy, it relies on your
will and talent to make or break it.it gives you a chance to make yourself confident in
anything that makes you proud and it gives you a chance to be yourself, no matter what will
happen.
In the case of Jose, he had many things to do being a member of the symphonic band. There
are more engagements and concerts that he will play, and more experiences that he needs to
take no matter what. It is a blessing that having this kind of organization showcases his
talents to the people and he shows how proud he was. How proud that he serves the
university afar and how proud that he performs with pride in his hands. He had a choice to
handle everything and he will not let it down for something. He played by his own choices
and he will use it for his college life
It is a true yearning for cultural performers like Jose that they serve the university with pride
and glory. They give their best not to earn a lot of trophies but to give the alma mater an edge
and pride and give these cultural performers confidence in performing. Also, they give the
university a needed culture to show off to other schools their treasured culture, a treasure that
can be passed on to future university students. It is a great thing to treasure and give priority
to the cultural performers so it will give much proper time to pass it down in the future no
matter what.
