• To reduce the morbidity and mortality among children against the most common vaccine-
preventable diseases.
Specific Goals
• Republic Act No. 10152“MandatoryInfants and Children Health Immunization Act of 2011Signed
by President Benigno Aquino III in July 26, 2010. The mandatory includes basic immunization for
children under 5 including other types that will be determined by the Secretary of Health
As a future nurse I think the roles and responsibilities of student nurse in EPI are the following:
1. Nurses are also in charge of overseeing all aspects of the immunization procedure following
administration.
2. They are responsible for monitoring the effects of vaccinations, including identifying and
treating any physical or psychological side effects.
3. This can also involve providing medical care to patients with underlying health conditions,
collating vaccination data, and taking patient records.
What are the elements of EPI?
• BCG birth dose, Hepatitis B birth dose, Oral Poliovirus Vaccine, Pentavalent Vaccine, Measles
Containing Vaccines (Antimeasles Vaccine, Measles, Mumps, Rubella) and Tetanus Toxoid.
As a nurse in the future in what ware are you going to implement this program for clients who have
hesitancy with regards to receiving vaccines?
• As a nursing student and future nurse I will encourage and educate them on how vaccinations
are very important receiving vaccines can prevent different diseasesA handy method to inform
relatives and friends that you have received your immunization and are reaping the rewards of it
is by sharing your vaccination experience on social media.
