An example of one of the functions of law is to resolve conflict.

Law provides a rationalized

and conclusive solution to disputes. Law also provides a formalized mechanism for settling disputes
by using the most typical of all legal institutions, which is the court. Another mechanism for resolving
conflicts includes e.g arbitration, mediation, and conciliation, also recognized by the law. Law also
maintains public order by regulating human behavior through the suppression of deviant behavior.

An example of the application of Public Law, Private Law, and International Law.

Public law refers to laws that govern the relationship between individuals and the state.
Public law involves criminal laws, administrative law, and constitutional law. Constitutional laws lay
down the right of individuals in the state. Criminal laws codify the various offenses committed by
individuals against the state.

Private law involves the relationship between rights and obligations between individuals. An
example of the application of private law is intended to give compensation to persons injured, to
enable proper to be recovered from wrongdoers, and to enforce obligations (contract and trusts).
Private law covers contract, tort, and trust.

International law is the body of law composed of principles and rules of conduct, which are
commonly observed in their relation to each other. An example of the application of international law
is the international court of Justice (ICJ) at Hague has been set up to hear cases of disputes between
states or nations for Pulau Batu which is between Malaysia with Singapore.
