MSG-3 MAINTENANCE MANUAL

AIRWORTHINESS LIMITATIONS
1. Airworthiness Limitations Section
A. Introduction

The Airworthiness Limitations Section is Federal Aviation Administration approved and

specifies maintenance required under Sections 43.16 and 91.403 of the Federal Aviation
Regulations, unless an alternative program has been FAA approved.

(1) Subsections - Details

• Section 1.B. Safe Life Limited Items
• Section 1.C. Principal Structural Element (PSE) Reporting Procedures
• Section 1.D. Principal Structural Element (PSE) Inspections
• Section 1.E. Certification Maintenance Requirements (CMR)
(2) Airworthiness Limitations
Each new model of Gulfstream aircraft, will have its own Airworthiness Limitations (AL). The
AL specifically addresses those items which have been identified through the certification
process as being safe life (life limited) or damage tolerant and meet the definition of a PSE.
Aircraft without a record of the number of landings may calculate by using a ratio of one (1)
landing per two (2) flying hours.
(3) MRB Report
MSG-3 structural inspection tasks which satisfy ALI requirements for accidental and
environmental (corrosion) damage are listed in AMM Chapter 05-22-00 (Maintenance Review
Board Report). The operator must consider both AMM Chapter 05-22-00 and Chapter
05-10-10 requirements when developing and maintaining a maintenance program.
B. Safe-Life Limits
The Safe Life Limits addresses those items that have been defined as being life limited. The part
number, quantity, item description and mandatory replacement times for these parts are included as
shown in the following Life Limited Components Tables.

C. Principal Structural Elements Reporting Procedure

Reporting of inspection results is required to ensure continued airworthiness of the fleet is
maintained. This procedure contains the necessary reporting information which is to be used
whenever a Principal Structural Element (PSE) inspection is accomplished. All discrepancies must
be accompanied by digital photograph(s).
NOTE: Inspection results, both positive and negative, are to be reported to Gulfstream
Maintainability Engineering. Complete Table 8 with inspection results. Return completed
table to Gulfstream Maintainability Engineering,
maintainability.engineering@gulfstream.com. Discrepancies must be reported within 24
hours. Discrepancies must be accompanied by digital photograph(s).

threshold interval, the next requirement is at the original 10,000 hours then recurring at
2000 hours.

NOTE: If time remaining after early compliance is less than the recurring interval,
the next inspection due is at the recurring interval from the actual accomplished point.

Table 10 contains a list of PSEs along with the specific description, initial threshold, repeat interval
and Computerized Maintenance Program (CMP) reference that applies to aircraft having ASC 213,
aircraft having ASC 354 and / or aircraft having ASC 219.
NOTE: For PSE inspections with an MRB reference listed as inspection interval, see Scheduled
Maintenance Checks, 05-20-00, Scheduled Maintenance Checks inspection table with
same MRB reference to determine frequency.
For inspections with a reduced recurring interval (i.e., 10,000 initial / 2,000 recurring) the next due
inspection is dependent upon the initial inspection accomplishment. See Figure 1.

NOTE: Unless otherwise specified, CMR tasks may be performed with a scheduling window
as follows:
