The culture of a local high school compared to that of a large

university

Every year, thousands of students graduate from high schools and enroll in
universities. Although most of them are really excited about their new journey,
there are many unexpected differences in the culture of a local high school
compared to that of a huge university. Therefore, understanding the contrasts
is a big step toward making a successful transition into university life.
The first cultural difference is that university students are regarded as adults,
which means they must manage their time and study independently. Teachers
in high school typically take care of their pupils by checking homework,
approaching them carefully, and providing them with knowledge when they
are absent. In contrast, the lecturers will not remind students of their
attendance and assignments. Moreover, college students are expected to take
responsibility for what they do, as well as for the consequences of their
decisions.
Another distinction is that students in university have more freedom and
comfort than in high school because high school has many server
requirements. If uniforms are compulsory in high school, students can wear
whatever they want in college. Furthermore, in university, students will no
longer have a fixed time for school and they often have plenty of time between
classes. Therefore, many people choose to take a part-time job to reduce the
financial burden of school fees.
Besides these significant differences between high schools and institutions,
there are some similarities. All students still have tests, quizzes, and other big
assignments to complete throughout the semester. Additionally, students can
improve their skills and broaden their relationships by participating in social
activities and organizations at both high schools and colleges. Most important,
whether in high school or college, students are educated to help them succeed
on their career paths.
In conclusion, either local high schools or large universities have a lot of
differences in culture. Regardless of these distinctions, the most crucial thing is
that students must study hard and develop their skills through the study
process in order to s fulfill their dreams.
