GOVERNMENT OF SIERRA LEONE, MINISTRY OF BASIC AND SENIOR SECONDARY EDUCATION

SSS School and specialist stream selection for JSS 3 BECE candidates

From the Chief Education Officer

We hope that by now you are aware that the Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary Education will be rolling out a new
curriculum for Senior Secondary Schools in Sierra Leone. The new curriculum provides a more diverse set of subjects
organised in five specialist streams. This provides greater choice for learners on what they can study. In each specialist
stream, the subjects available are classified as Core Subjects, Applied Subjects and Everyday Subjects. There are
guidelines to help learners select their specialist stream and subjects. These guidelines have been shared with your
school principal. Please fill out this form and return to the principal at your school.
