Joseph’s
College
Chapter 5 Summary, Conclusion, and Recommendation
This chapter will be illustrating the summarization of the findings, conclusion of the
conducted survey, and recommendation of the researcher’s study regarding the effects of
cyberbullying on the mental health of Grade 11 students of St. Joseph’s College.

Summary

The researchers conducted the study online due to the pandemic along with the students
of St. Joseph’s College of Quezon City where twenty-five survey forms with questionnaires were
collected and were fulfilled by twenty-five grade eleven students taking up academic tracks. By
using a causal-comparative method in our entire study, the researchers are able to try the cause-
and-effect relationships among the subjects which is the main theme of the study, the impact of
cyberbullying on students' mental health. The researchers also used statistical data, the
percentage frequency distribution technique in conducting the research. It enables the researchers
to specify the percentage of observations that exist in each data or group of data points. The
representatives of each group were randomly chosen.

The questions in the questionnaire that needed to be answered by the respondents was to
answer the interpretation and analysis of the study. The responses that were gathered from the
respondents are about their experiences in cyberbullying, to whom did they asked help or whom
they talked to about their experience, the negative effects of cyberbullying, and how their
academic performance was affected by cyberbullying.

The researchers utilized the problems stated to divide the survey into three parts,
which are the demographic profile, yes or no questions that contains the experiences of the
respondents in cyberbullying and the Likert scale questions which contains the effect of
cyberbullying to the respondents. After distributing the survey to the respondents, the researchers
analyzed the data according to the study by using tables, graphs and statistical data.

Conclusion

If the researchers will look at the pie graphs, it indicates that most of the respondent’s
mental are affected by cyberbullying, some people may be affected because they have devised a
method or coping strategy to avoid being victimized by cyberbullying. Since we are talking
about effects, there are questions regarding the effect of cyberbullying on the academic
performances and future of the respondents and here we could conclude that the majority of the
respondents agree that cyberbullying really affects their academic performances and their future
which could be a hindrance for the respondents' development.

Plus, there are numerous questions regarding how society should address
cyberbullying seriously. The majority of the respondents strongly agree that we should take this
issue seriously. In some ways, it is a more reprehensible form of bullying. However it is not
physically violent, it could be more damaging to the victim's mental health. In an ERA in which
online communication, particularly in teenagers, is an important part of daily life. Respondents
also agree that cyberbullying that they felt that they are losing sight of the importance of life,
cyberbullying is nothing short of an assault, a constant attempt to make the victim feel unwanted
or unwelcome and may lead to suicide. Cyberbullying respondents strongly agreed that they have
developed coping mechanisms in such a manner to combat.

The questions that asked about the respondent's coping strategies and opinions or
insights about cyberbullying gives us some satisfying answers. The questionnaire measures the
total number of respondents that are affected by cyberbullying, and those who have some coping
strategies. So the graphs just proved that there really are some people who are deeply wounded
mentally because of cyberbullying, but the great thing is that they have their own coping
strategies.

Recommendations

Based on the conclusions and some deliberations, numerous of the findings proved the
researcher’s gathered data had an impact on the study, that the researchers offered these
recommendations for the betterment of the research:.

1) Introducing a far more effective anti-cyberbullying program that must be

implemented as early as elementary school. In addition, age-appropriate topics
will be taught as the students’ progress into high school.
2) The school staff of St. Joseph’s College should be trained with anti-bullying
programs (Both digital and physical) to ensure the health, safety, and well-being
of the students.
3) Any students that are caught and apprehended for committing malicious bullying
must face harsher punishments (One week suspension to expulsion).
4) Provides enough evidences to prove that Cyberbullying can happen anywhere and
anytime in schools plus work areas. Furthermore, cyberbullying can be taken
seriously by adults and adolescents.
