If airplanes with serials earlier
than the airplane serials stated
above have installed a wing center
section bonded panel as a spare,

For this inspection, use a closed
end of a pocket knife, rounded
edge of a smooth instrument or a
heavy coin. Ensure that the test-
ing instrument is smooth and free

2. Tap the wing center section
bonded pane! 3/4 inch forward of the same
row of rivets shown in Test Zone 2 of
Figure 1. It should demonstrate a solid
ringing Sound showing a bonded panel.
b. Use a test instrument to tap the
wing center section bonded panel upper
Skin located on the RH and LH upper wing
center section between the fuselage and
the nacelle.
c. Starting at the edge of the
nacelie fairing, 2 inches aft of the front
spar, tap every’two inches across the top
to the inboard side of the fuselage to
wing center section fairing.
d. Move 2 inches aft and repeat the
‘tapping process until the entire surface
of the wing center section bonded panel
upper skin is covered.
NOTE
A visible slight raise or bubble
or_a change in sound will be a
definite indication of a sepa~
rated area.
e. Visually inspect the wing center
section bonded panel upper skin. surface
for a slight raise or bubbles indicating
a separation of the wing center section
panel upper skin
Ff, Inspect the center section upper
fuel bay panel for fuel bay/liner honey-
comb for separation as follows:
1. Defuel and purge the auxilia~
ry fuel system.
2. Open the auxiliary fuel bay
and unsnap the fasteners which secure the
fuel cell to the upper wing panel.
3._ Inspect the lower side of the
anel for looseness or deformation of the
‘iner. Run a bare hand over the surface
and feel for a slight raise or bubble. Use
a mirror and light to assist in observa~
tion. A tap test, as used on the upper
surface, may be used for debond
inspection.

A moisture drain tube approxi-
mately 10 to 14 inches in length
is installed from the fuel cell
access panel dish to the fuel
quantity probe dish in the center
section bonded pane? and may make

should not be confused with a

bonded panel upper skin (upper surface
only) as follows:

sounds of a good (bonded) area or an
unacceptable (separated) area, test as
follows:
1. Tap the wing center section
bonded panel aft of the row rivets shown
in Test Zone 1 of Figure 1. This will make
a tinny hollow sound representative of a
separated skin condition
2. Tap the wing center section
bonded panel 3/4 inch forward of the sane
row of rivets shown in Test Zone 2 of
Figure 1. It should demonstrate a solid
ringing sound showing a bonded panel
b. Use a test instrument to tap the
wing ‘center section bonded panel upper
skin Tocated on the RH and LH upper wing
center section between the fuselage and
the nacelle.
c. Starting at the edge of the
nacelle fairing, 2 inches aft of the front
spar, tap every’ two inches across the top
to the inboard side of the fuselage to
wing center section fairing
d. Move 2 inches aft and repeat the
tapping process until the entire surface
of the wing center section bonded panel
upper skin is covered.
NOTE
