LESSON PLAN

Name: Mary Rose D. Bisnar Course/Year&Section: BSED Science IV-A

I.OBJECTIVE:

A. Learning Differentiate asexual from sexual reproduction in terms of:

Competency
1. number of individuals involved
2. similarities of offspring to parents

II. CONTENTS:

A. Topic Asexual and Sexual Reproduction

B. Concept Identifying the difference between asexual and sexual reproduction.
C. KBI The learners will be able to know the difference between asexual and
sexual reproduction.
III. LEARNING MATERIALS:

A. References
B. Additional Visual aid, Handouts, Bond Paper, Pencil, and Crayons
Materials
IV. PROCEDURES:

A. Elicit Shows a picture of some organisms and the students will identify
whether those organisms require one parent or two parents to
reproduce an offspring.

 Gumamela
 Starfish
 Human
 Dogs
 Segmented worm
B. Engage  Examine the picture below.
 Ask questions:
1. Why do these animals require different number of parents?
2. Do these organisms always look the same like their parents?

C. Explore GROUP ACTIVITY!

 Divide the class into 2 groups.

 Each group will be given a different topic for them to observe
and examine.
 Each group will be given 2 minutes to accomplish the activity.
 The group leader will present their activity to the class.

D. Explain 1. What are your observations from the following organisms?

 Potatoes
 Gumamela
 Human
 Segmented worm

2. How many parents does these organisms are require to produce

another offspring?
3. Do the organisms have the same number of parents?
4. Does every offspring look exactly the same as their parents?

E. Elaborate GROUP ACTIVITY! (same group applied)

 Each group will be given a different activity to do.

For group 1:
 Make a Venn Diagram about Asexual and Sexual
Reproduction. Shows their similarities and
differences
Asexual Sexual
 Require  Require 2
1 parent parents
 Offspring 
Produces offspring
looks
exactly
like
parent

For group 2:
 Draw two organisms that undergo an asexual and
sexual reproduction.

For example:
Asexual Reproduction
 Starfish
 Segmented worm
Sexual Reproduction
 Cats
 Monkeys

 Each group will be given 5 minutes to finish their activity.

 The group leader will present their activity to the class.
F. Evaluate Answer the following statements:

Direction: Write AR if the sentences refer to an asexual reproduction

and SR for sexual reproduction.

_____ 1. Ginger and sweet potatoes can reproduce by planting their

plant tubers in the soil. Answer: AR
_____ 2. The male organism produces sperm cells and the female
organism produces an egg cell. Answer: SR
_____ 3. Ritchel cut a worm into two pieces. She was shocked when she
saw the two pieces move separately and independently. Answer: AR
_____ 4. Male elements of a flower releases pollen to a female element
of the flower. Answer: SR
_____ 5. Sponges have smaller parts that can grow and become a
different organism. Answer: AR

G. Extend Assignment:

Direction: Read the sentences below.

1. If a starfish loses a body part, it grows itself a new one. The

separated part grows into a new independent starfish. Why do
you think so?
2. To produce desirable gumamelas, the farmer needs to
propagate a good variety of the flowers. What method can the
farmer use? Support your answer.
