Selection Process & Guidelines

Crowning will take place at W.A. Lewis Field each year of the Santo Homecoming Game.

Santo Athletic Booster Club will provide the Collection Buckets, Tiara, Sashes & Flowers as well as organize the
introduction of candidates and crowning ceremony at W.A. Lewis Field Homecoming night prior to game start
time.

The alumni organization known as “Santo Ex Students Association” will be the selection committee elected to
find the Coming Home Queen candidates.

The following guidelines will be used in the selection process to protect Santo Athletic Booster Club & Selection
committee from conflicts as well as help select the most appropriate and deserving candidates to represent our
Santo community as well as both organizations.

Selection Process:

• Must have been a graduate of Santo ISD in one of the “Class of “school years being recognized.
• Must have been an active member of Santo ISD student body.
• Selection will be based on 10-year descending increments from current school year in progress for
as far back as selection committee can locate a candidate. See example below:
o Ex: Current School year 2019-2020
o Candidate from Class of 2009-2010 (Crowned HoCo Queen 2009)
o Candidate from Class of 1999-2000 (Crowned HoCo Queen 1999)
o Candidate from Class of 1989-1990 (Crowned HoCo Queen 1989)
o Candidate from Class of 1979-1980 (Crowned HoCo Queen 1979)
o Candidate from Class of 1969-1970 (Crowned HoCo Queen 1969)
o Candidate from Class of 1959-1960 (Crowned HoCo Queen 1959)
o Candidate from Class of 1949-1950 (Crowned HoCo Queen 1949)
• Will start by trying to locate previous Homecoming Queens from “Class of” school year being
recognized providing that HoCo Queen was a graduate during one of the “Class of” years being
recognized.
o If a homecoming queen is not available for a specific class year then selection will be
made from that years Homecoming Court providing that the Homecoming Court
candidate was a member of the “Class of” year being recognized.
o If no one available or HoCo Court were not ALL members of the class year recognized,
selection will be made from the remaining female members of class year being recognized
at the discretion of the selection committee.
o If no candidate can be located for that year then that year will be skipped.

Crowning of Queen: Candidate with the most donations collected will be crowned as Santo Coming Home Queen.
All personally collected donations must be turned into Santo Athletic Booster Club by noon on the day of
homecoming. Booster Club will pick up donation buckets the morning of Homecoming. Donations will be tallied by
current Booster Club officers and winner will be named that evening prior to the start of Homecoming Game.
