gatehouse. This pose alludes to Hood's fights with the Sheriff of Nottigham, who resided in
the castle. The statue is surrounded by small sculptures of Little John, Friar Tuck, Alan A
Dale and Will Scarlett. On the wall around the statues of Robin Hood and his merry men,
there are plaques depicting scenes from the tales of the legendary outlaw.

which is thought to be the oldest inn in England. It is located on
Brewhouse Yard and was probably established in 1189. As in 13th
century Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem was already in existence, many
people believe that Robin Hood used to drink and eat out there. The inn
houses several bars, nooks, lounges and relics connected with
Nottingham's history. Even though the prices are relatively high, the
bars offer a variety of alcoholic beverages and hearty meals. It is only
ten minutes away from the hotel in which we will stay, so we could go
there on foot.
St. Nicholas Church
The burial site of the original Robin Hood
The fourth day of our stay in England we will spend exploring St. Nicholas
Church. The church is located on Maid Marian Way. The easiest way to get there
is to take a bus and get off at Stop M5. The entry to this Anglican parish is free of
charge. It is believed that Robin of Loxley, upon whose life the legend of Robin
Hood was based, is buried in the churchyard of St.Nicholas Church. Many people
claim that it was the place, where he would pray and hide from the authorities.
Including this landmark into the trip is a perfect opportunity to explore the
medieval church and visit the grave of allegedly original Robin Hood.
