I have known Nephhtali for more than sixty years and have bever known him to utter a
racial slur. Reading the poem it is clear that nephtali was not angry, he was reflecting on the death of
another poet. He was not angry, just reflective.I tend to judge my friends within a context. In the sixty
years I have known him he has been considerate verging on the noble. I don't like the term he used
and I understand that many words are used within this floating word world. He was not trying to be
funny, he was not angry, And I don't know who made the decision to cut him. In the context of the
past it seems like it may be a case where they were waiting for him to stumble. I know Nephtali, we
share history and I will support him like I have helped many of you. I know Nephtali, he is my friend,
he has never even joked about similar terms. Once when I was introduced to a white Texan as Dr.
Acuña, the Texan replied, "he is still a greaser to me. I responded, "You know what you get when you
pour hot water over a white male Texan?" Instant caca? Later Nephtali gently admonished me, telling
me we are in Texas, Rudy, not California.
