INT. ART CLASSROOM - DAY
The detention students are begrudgingly cleaning the art
classroom when they begin hearing strange noises outside.
JOCK
You guys hear something?
More shuffling and banging is heard from outside. A scream
cuts through the air, followed by the sound of moving
furniture.
FUNNY KID
I can’t believe they’re throwing a
party while we’re stuck in
detention.
JOCK
Someone should go check it out.
The detention students all look around the room at each
other. Eventually, everyone fixes their gaze on TECH KID.
TECH KID
[hesitantly] All right, fine.

EXT. 3RD FLOOR HALLWAY

TECH KID nervously opens the door and slowly walks out into
the hallway. He creeps down the corridor, hugging the wall
until he reaches the corner. He peeks down into the stairwell
and-
TECH KID
AAAHHHHHH!
REGULAR KIDS
AAAHHHHHH!

INT. ART CLASSROOM

REGULAR KIDS run into the art classroom, followed by TECH
KID. REGULAR KIDS close the door as fast as they can and
begin barricading it with anything they can find.
TECH KID
I went out there and these guys
just came running up the stairs!
REGULAR KID 1
There’s... There’s things out
there.

JOCK
What the hell are you guys talking
about?
FUNNY KID
Says something funny
REGULAR KID 2
Look, we got it on video! Watch!
Everyone crowds around the phone as REGULAR KIDS show video
evidence of their zombie encounter. In the video, a group of
zombies is seen hunched over the corpse of an unfortunate
student, feasting upon them. One of the zombies notices
REGULAR KID 2 recording with the phone and turns towards him.
The video ends here. The detention students are visibly
shaken.
REGULAR KID 1
We ran inside and blocked the door
downstairs, but it won’t hold
forever!
CHEERLEADER looks frightened and leans closer to FUNNY KID.
CHEERLEADER
Are-Are they going to come up here?
TECH KID
Did you lead them here?!
FUNNY KID
Great job, geniuses.
REGULAR KID 1
We didn’t know where to go! It was
coming towards us and we just-
JOCK
What are those things, anyway?
GOTH KID
Zombies. The living dead. In
ancient religions they believed--
JOCK
(cutting her off)
Whoa whoa whoa. Let's keep the
crazy talk to a minimum. Are there
any more?

SCIENCE KID
Well, if it's a virus, it could
spread quite quickly. If it's a
bacteria, we might have more time.
GOTH KID
And if it's magical--
JOCK
What did I say about crazy?
REGULAR KID 2
It doesn’t matter what made them,
all that matters is-
SCIENCE KID
It definitely matters. If we can
diagnose the cause, we can create a
cure and turn them back to normal.
FUNNY KID
Yeah, just what I want to do during
detention- more science homework.
SCIENCE KID
Maybe if you did more science
homework, you wouldn’t be here.
CHEERLEADER
Hey, where do you get off? FUNNY
KID is cooler than you’ll ever be.
Right, babe?
TECH KID
Ugh, gross.
SCIENCE KID
What we need right now is a plan of
action. Since I doubt any of you
are going to come up with one, I
believe I have a solution.
JOCK
[dismissively] Here we go
TECH KID
At least she’s making an attempt!
JOCK
What if they faked the whole thing
just to scare us? Not like nobody’s
ever made a fake video before.

REGULAR KID 2
I swear to God, it’s true! They
were eating a kid!
SCIENCE KID
It’s highly unlikely that they
would cover themselves in fake
blood just for a prank. That’s more
FUNNY KID’s area of expertise.
FUNNY KID
Hey! That- kinda does sound like
me, actually.
CHEERLEADER
You’re so funny, babe!
FUNNY KID
Thanks, babe.
TECH KID
Ugh!
CHEERLEADER
Hey, shut up, dork!
SCIENCE KID
He’s right! None of us want to be
locked in here with you two sucking
face.
FUNNY KID
Hey, where do you get off?
They argue back and forth. SCIENCE KID and TECH KID bicker
with FUNNY KID and CHEERLEADER as PREPPY GIRL looks on with
disdain and GOTH KID stares out the window.
REGULAR KID 2
HEY!
They stop fighting.
REGULAR KID 2 (CONT’D)
Listen, we don’t know how much
longer that barricade is going to
hold! We need to work together!

FUNNY KID, CHEERLEADER, TECH KID, and SCIENCE KID

begrudgingly stop fighting. The reality of their situation
begins to sink in.

Loud noises are heard from outside. The sound of breaking

furniture and shambling feet emanate from the first floor.

REGULAR KIDS
The barricade!
TECH KID
Oh god! Oh god oh god oh god oh-
JOCK
Snap out of it! Everyone find
something you can use to help block
the door while we figure out a
plan.
SCIENCE KID
You’re going to come up with a
plan? This should be funny.
Detention students search the room for objects that can block
the doors as the sounds of zombies entering the building get
louder.
JOCK
Okay, these aren’t gonna hold
forever! Everyone look around for
weapons!
The students begin scouring the room for any makeshift
weapons they can find. TECH KID clutches his laptop for dear
life.
The noises outside get louder as the kids grip their
makeshift weapons and glance towards the door.
