Appearance
The Aolenus is feathery and brightly colored, with many of the feathers having a
shine to them in higher graphics settings which emit some smoke particles as an
adult while flying and gliding. It has horns on its head along with a dromaeosaur-
reminiscent toe claw, possibly for slashing its foes. It also possesses a "crest" of
feathers upon its head, similar to that of the Crested Eagle-Hawk. It tends to
physically share many similarities with modern birds of prey such as eagles and
hawks.

Abilities

Bleed is a passive ability that is applied through melee attacks and will
gradually damage targets percentually (meaning that regardless of max
health two fully healthy creatures with identical bleed defense will end up
with the same % of health left for the same amount they su!er this status
e!ect) while blocking normal health regeneration. Currently, bleed is
ine!ective on small quantities, when it can be healed even while moving.
While stationary, targets with bleed are limited to a max of 30 bleed, but can
stack bleed to a max of 60 bleed if the target moves too much. At around 1-
10 bleed, it deals 1.0x damage every 3 seconds (can't fall below 10% health if
sitting/laying). At around 11-20 bleed, it decreases stamina regeneration by
25%. More than that, and it decreases stamina regeneration by 50%. Damage
done by bleed is increased the more bleed e!ect you are su!ering. Bleed
damage only stops if you are gravely injured (below 13 to 10% of health) and
you are sitting or laying down.
Bleed Defense is a passive ability that allows creatures to resist the e!ects of
Bleed. If a creature's Bleed Defense is 100%, then they are immune to Bleed
done by melee direct attacks.

Gameplay

Pros
Being an Omnivore, food is readily available to Aolenus players. It can also use its
capabilities as a Flier to make searching for food even easier, or to escape a tough
situation if the attacker is slower.

Cons
Stat-wise, the Aolenus is currently out-shined by most other fliers in its tier and
might struggle when trying to take such creatures on. With this creature, it is best
to be cautious early on, as it is helpless against many predators at a young age and
takes a considerable amount of time to grow. While easily capable of taking on
lower-tier creatures, its low stamina can leave players in a sticky situation if they
don't manage it e!ectively. The Aolenus is a rather slow flier too, so these two
factors combined make it so gliding whenever possible is advised. The advantages
it gains as a flier may also be nullified by creatures who can Break Bones.

The inspiration for Aolenus was "prehistoric predatory birds, blue/yellow
macaw."
Upon release, there were 544,698 Aolenus species existing in-game, which
is based on the number of people that played during Beta and automatically
received the badge as a result of their visit. However, the Tikit system may
have removed some from the economy. The Beta Tester Badge count is
featured on the game's Main Page.
Like the Keruku, it is only obtainable through Trading, buying a stored version
or nesting.
Aolenus was described as "hard to master" by Erythia.
Some people refer to this as the "Beta Bird" or a Phoenix.
Aolenus is capable of sleeping in lava, as seen on this video.
In the public test world (Sonaria map redesign) near the spawn, there was
what appeared to be a destroyed Aolenus, with all its model parts spread out
and a pink block in the middle. As of November 2021, this has been fixed, and
as of January 2022 it has been removed.
