Hey, Romance

Like look, I'm pretty sure I'm aromantic, but the topic of love is pretty fascinating
to me. So I'm just going to write all my observations of what makes a good love life
in all my fav media and just send the rant you to you Reid, cuz I love ya, and you
get to deal with my rants… I'm autistic aren’t I.

That tingly feeling inside

I think the moment when the character realizes feelings for another is a really
important idea that should be fleshed out in any media, sue me.
It's essential to let the readers why the character want to have a future with
another, I’m not going to accept that stupid line of “Well they make me feel special”
or “Oh, they make me feel butterflies in my stomach” NO.

When a character has a deep relationship with the character, it is a 1000x better
than if that character just likes the look of a certain someone. MAKE THE
CHARACTER ACTUALLY HAVE A MEANINGFUL INTERACTION WITH THE OTHER,
THEN PURSUE ROMANCE.

Romance media where the character just has feelings for the other for plot’s sake is
lazy, stupid and often sacrifice a character’s personality in favour of just getting
conflict.

Conflict

The f*ck is conflict???!1!

Romance should always be a conflict. A conflict of personalities is what should a
good romance BE. When Character A like Character B, THAT should be a good line
of conflict, and that will get you a story.

Right?

Right?

Fuck that.
A good romance should have the characters have a “transactional relationship”.
Character A and Character B are my main characters, Character A is a deeply hurt
and troubled individual that need to learn how to love themselves, Character B is a
lonely person, they have everything they ever wanted, yet they don't have a
meaningful connection, and wish to love someone.

Step 1
Make these motherfuckers love each other (platonically). Make them understand
eachother, they can intertwine and sink into long deep conversations, hell they
know each other’s favourite boba flavour [I want boba dawg].

This is the bread and butter, what is going to make or break this plot, make actual
meaningful characters and make them understand each other.

Step 2
Fall in the depths of hell that is love. Make Character A realize they truly enjoy the
company of the other, really yearn for every moment they spend with each other.
And in that realization that they need validation from B, they have to learn to find
better qualities in themselves. Maybe find a job and or a hobby.

Character B realizes that in their search for someone to love, they found someone,
a person they connect so deeply with, they know you like the back of their hand.
Make them aspire to want to take care of the other, make sure htat no one would
ever take away their “thing”.

Step 3
Announce that they like each other.

.
Ah shit, we dont know how to do that, huh?

Yours, and mine.
