APPROXIMATE INSTALLATION TIME - 8.0 HOURS
PLEASE READ THE COMPLETE INSTRUCTION SHEET BEFORE INSTALLATION OF THIS KIT

NOTE: The left-hand and right-hand sides of the

Combine unit are referenced when standing behind
the unit, facing the forward direction of travel.

The PSD Conveyor Speed Sensor is mounted to the

PSD conveyor located inside the straw-hood of the
combine.

The PSD Conveyor Speed Sensor, 2, is bracket

mounted and installed on the left-hand side tension
adjustment guide bracket, 3 of the PSD Conveyor. 1
The sensor target plate is installed on the V-groove 2 3
hub of the forward conveyor roller at, 1. 66060048
1
The electrical connection from the sensor is through
the combine side plate. The connecting wire harness
is routed to the CCM2 following and secured to the
main wire harness.
The PSD Conveyor Speed Sensor, 1, is a proximity
sensor that sends a signal to the CCM2 every time
the sensor plate, 3, passes over the face of the
sensor, 2.

CCM2 monitors the pulsed signals and determines if

the PSD Conveyor is rotating at correct speed.

sensor cable connection into the CCM2.

MACHINE PREPARATION
Ensure the combine is parked on a hard level surface
with parking brake set.

Lower the feeder until fully supported on the ground

or raise the feeder and lower the header safety stop,
1, over the left cylinder, 2.

NOTE: For this installation, it is recommended to

lower the feeder to its full down position, as access
to the electrical cable connections to the CCM2 from 1 2
the underside of the cab is required.

Use the spacer plate, 2, as a template, and align
it to the V-guide hub on the left end of the roller, 1.
3
Mark and center-punch four spacer (template)
holes on the hub end of the roller. The hole 4
centers are at 90° intervals on a 65 mm (2.56 in)
diameter.

Drill four holes 5 mm x 22 mm. (5 mm drill).

Sensor Electrical Connection
NOTE: Locally procure approximately 15 wire ties for
routing the sensor cable from the sensor to the CCM2.
2
1
10. Connect the sensor cable plug, 1, to the sensor
connector receptacle, 2.
Route and wire tie the cable to the main frame
cable that runs along the left frame rail and over
the left front frame rail to the Combine Control
Modules (CCM2).

IMPORTANT: DO NOT route and tie the sensor

66060049
cable to any hydraulic line(s). The heat through the
hydraulic line(s) is sufficient to distort and internally 19
damage the conductor wires resulting in sensor
failure.

IMPORTANT: Ensure the sensor cable is not, and

will not contact the chopper sheave and hydraulic
lines, nor is excess cable hanging from under the cab
and contacting the feeder house, during operation.
11. Identify the X016 plug (red tagged), 1. Fold the
rubber connector boot back from the plug. Pull
the plug from the receptacle.
Route the sensor cable (dashed line), 2, under
the boot collar.
Locate and extract the contact hole plug from
cavity #28, and extract blue wire #465 (Ref.
ground for sensors) from cavity #14 from the plug 1
using a Deutsch wire contact extraction tool of
the appropriate size.
Insert the sensor cable yellow wire contact into 2
cavity #28.
50043418
Insert the removed blue wire into the cable splice
connector. Ensure the blue wire is installed in 20
direct alignment with the connector blue wire.
Install the splice connector blue wire into wire
contact cavity #14.
Install the X016 plug into the CCM2. Reinstall the
connector boot to completely seal the plug
connection.
Update the software as described in Software
Installation that follows.

WARNING 7
8
Do not attempt any inspection or adjustment with
the combine running.
• Set the parking brake.
• Turn off combine.
• Remove key.
9
Failure to comply could result in serious injury or
death.
86060086
10
Components of the tension/tracking adjustment
linkage on the left side of the unit as seen from within 21
the straw-hood under the PSD conveyor looking up
and forward are as follows:
1. Cotter pin and washer
2. Rocker support
3. Rocker
4. Jam nuts
5. Push rod
6. Quadrant hex (1-1/8 in)
7. Quadrant ratchet
8. Pawl
9. Conveyor frame
10. Conveyor belt
Tension the conveyor belt by applying a torque of 68
– 88 N⋅m (50 – 65 ft-lb) to the ratchet quadrant hex, 2
3, counterclockwise and engage the pawl, 4, in the 4
closest notch of the quadrant.

10
Verify the drive and driven rollers are parallel.
Measure the distance between the rollers on both
sides of the conveyor. Adjust the distance to be equal
at the right-hand side adjustment linkage, shown. 1

NOTE: Crowfoot wrenches may be required to

access the jam nuts, 1, for adjustment.

Adjust distance with the double jam nuts, 1, on the

tensioning push rod, 2.

Run unit several revolutions, shut down combine,

remove key, and then check the belt tracking. 2
56063241
Further tracking adjustments should be made to the 23
same (right-hand) side by increasing or decreasing
the jam nut position on the push rod. Fine adjustment
should be only one flat of the nut at a time.

Run unit several revolutions, shut down combine,

remove key, and then check the belt tracking, repeat
procedure as necessary.

SOFTWARE INSTALLATION
Version
The PSD speed sensor is supported in CCM2
software version 31.01.07.00 and later. This
software is included on the Electronic Service Tool
version 4.4.

NOTE: The software on the EST forms a compatible

set and must all be downloaded! It is not acceptable
to download only the CCM2 software.
Installation
Assuming that the physical installation has been
completed, in order for the combine CCM2 to
recognize and report low PSD conveyor speed, it
must be configured as “Installed”.

Refer to Configuration and Calibration, (sub-menu)

Residue; located in Section 2 of the Operators
Manual, for more information.

20060074

24
Alarm
Once installed, the software will monitor the PSD
speed sensor and alert the operator if the belt speed
drops too low (< 80% of expected). In addition to the
high priority pop-up alarm (A0127), there is an
audible alarm (the same as other shaft speed
alarms) and the “Residue” lamp on the SSM is
illuminated.

20060075

25
Alarm Code – PSD Conveyor Speed Sensor (B74)

Alarm Code Description Priority Check Condition Activation Resetting

A0127 PSD Belt High Residue handling (belt speed < (belt speed >

RPM Low residue under the
straw-hood)

12
Fault Detection/Diagnosis
If a fault is detected with the PSD speed sensor it is
displayed using the normal pop-up screens.

The SPN for the PSD speed sensor is 144. This

sensor has the same FMI’s as other speed sensors:
3 (Shorted to high source), 4 (shorted to low source),
and 5 (Line disconnected).
