CONCLUSIONS:

Soil fertility is the ability of the land to support plant growth and optimize crop
yields. This can be enhanced by means of organic and inorganic fertilizers that
nourish the soil.

Taking care of the soil = Greater food security Soils

Exchange nutrients and water with plant roots. The healthier the soil, the better the
harvest. Soil is a non-renewable resource and its preservation is essential for food
security

Soil health is necessary for us to have food and for forests, jungles, mangroves and
arid areas to provide us with their goods and services. Only 26% of the national
territory has soils where sustainable productive activities are carried out without
apparent degradation.

What would happen if we do not give importance to the care and conservation of
soils? The balance of ecosystems is lost. Global warming and desertification (land
degradation in arid, semi-arid and dry sub-humid areas) worsen. The quality of water
and air is affected.

The climate is a determining factor in the formation of the soil: temperature

changes, rains and winds that contribute to the wear of the bedrock. Likewise, it
influences the existence of plants, which hold the soil and provide it with organic
matter.

To help care for the soil:

Grow windbreak covers for fields. ...

Avoid compacting the soil. ...
Use gardening techniques that do not require digging. ...
Spread mulch over growing plants. ...
Control runoff. ...
Install a rain barrel or sump. ...
Promotes crop diversity.
