addition_en.html

Vector:

Vector, in physics, a quantity that has both magnitude and direction.

It is typically represented by an arrow whose direction is the same as
that of the quantity and whose length is proportional to the quantity’s
magnitude. Although a vector has magnitude and direction, it does not
have position.

There are three methods we can use to add vectors:

i) Graphical method (using ruler and protractor)
ii) Analytical method (by calculator)
iii) Experimental method

Part(i): Graphical Method

1- Write the resultant vector using graphical method.

a=10N Өa=53.1 b=7.2N Өb=123.7

S=……………… Ө=……………….
Part(ii): Analytical method
1- Use the same magnitudes and directions in part(i) and write the resultant
vector using analytical method.

Force(N) Magnitude(N) Direction(⁰) x-component y-component

Vector (a)

Vector(b)

Resultant
force

2- What is the result of subtracting a-b?
