Questions 17-24
Read the text below and answer questions 25-34.
Haze
Haze can affect our health through irritation and inflammation of the eyes, nose and throat in
addition to dizziness, stress and headaches. Those who have low immunity and already suffer from
heart or lung conditions and asthma will find their health worsening.
One way of protecting your health during the haze is by staying indoors. You should only go out
if it absolutely necessary. If you have air conditioners, make sure that you clean the filters as often
as possible. You also get an air purifier which will maintain the air quality in your home.
In the event that you have to go out during the haze, try not to do anything strenuous that
requires you to inhale deeply. For example, you can go to school but don’t go for a run. Another way
to protect yourself is by wearing a N95 mask. The mask will filter out airborne particles from the air
you are about to inhale. You should also increase your water intake. The water will help your kidneys
flush away the toxins and keep you hydrated.
Make sure to always wash your hands and face as soon as you’re home. This will help to minimize
any infections. If your immune system is good, you are less likely to fall sick during the haze.
Therefore, eat lots fresh fruits and vegetables as they will boost your immunity and strengthen your
lungs. If your experience respiratory or other health issues, immediately visit your doctor. It may not
be serious but it is better to get it checked out. After visiting the doctor, make sure your listen to the
advice given. For example, take all the medications that is prescribed.

(29)
In the afternoon, we changed into our swimming wear and swam happily.
Everyone stopped their beach activities and ran to their accommodations. My friends and I did the
same. Then, it started raining heavily. (30) The sea waves began to become fiercer and
wilder. We could see them from our chalets. We were warned no to go out.
All of sudden, the whole chalet was in total darkness. (31) We had no torchlights
