You will NOT be allowed to write for the first 10 minutes. This time is to be spent in reading the question paper.
The time given at the head of this paper is the time allowed for writing the answers.
Answer all questions in Section A and all questions in Section B.
All working, including rough work, must be clearly shown and must be done on the
same sheet as the rest of the answer. Omission of essential working will result in loss of marks.
The intended marks for questions or parts of questions, are given in brackets [ ].

SECTION A
Question 1
a) Use the remainder theorem to factorize the expression 2x 3 + 9x2 + 7x - 6 completely. [3]
b) Nishath opened a cumulative deposit account in the bank paying 5% per annum for 1½ years.
If she receives an amount of ₹ 14970 on maturity, find the monthly instalment. [3]
c) Find the amount of bill for the intra-state transaction of goods/services. The rate of GST being 18%.

a) Find the value of m for which the following quadratic equation has real and equal roots: Also find the
roots of the equation. x2 + 12x + ( m + 7 )= 0 [4]
b) Use the properties of proportion to solve for ‘x’. √12𝑥 + 1 + √2𝑥 − 3 = 3 [4]

Question 3
a) Solve the following inequation and graph the solution sets on two separate number lines:

b) Solve the quadratic equation using formula and give your answer correct to two significant figures:
x2 - 3x - 9 = 0 [√5= 2.236] [3]
c) If a, b and c are real numbers and if a < b, then ac < bc
State giving reasons if the statement is True or False [2]

Question 4
a) Mrs. Pandit deposited ₹ 3000 per month in a recurring deposit account in State Bank of India. If the rate
of interest is 6% per annum and she gets ₹ 6975 as interest at the time of maturity, calculate the time
period for which the deposit was held (Give your answer in years). [3]

b) The age of the father is twice the square of the son’s age. Ten years later the father will be three times
the age of his son. Find their present ages. [3]

c) A manufacturer in Pune (Maharashtra) marks a machinery for ₹ 1,00,000 and sells it to the dealer in
Jaipur (Rajasthan) at a discount of 40%. The dealer sells the machinery to a customer (end user)
in Ludhiana (Punjab) at a discount of 20% on the marked price. Assuming that the rate of GST is the
same for all transactions and the net GST payable by the dealer is ₹ 4000, find the rate of GST. [4]
Also, find the total amount of the bill (invoice) that the customer has to pay.
