1. Carbomer
Carbomer is a high-molecular polymer polymerized with acrylic acid as a thickener and phase
stabilizer most commonly used in cosmetics.
The major differences between Carbomer products are their viscosity and the solvents and cro
sslinking agents used in their manufacture.

When neutralized with an alkali compound, Carbomer thickens into a clear gel and
has the ability to absorb and retain water. These carbomers are used as thickeners, blending a
gents, and emulsion stabilizers in a variety of products including gels, creams, lotions, and sha
mpoos.
