Massive Tree Growing: A celebration of the Provincial Arbor day

The kick off in Camp Escutin Brgy. Matagnop Dao was led by Gov. Esteban Evan B. Contreras
More than 500 Capisnon came together and unite their efforts to increase forest cover thereby
address issues in water supply, fight the loss of biodiversity, increase food sustainability, and
combat the threats of climate change.

The 1M Kahoy Project will continue until November of this year in celebration of the Provincial
Environment Consciousness Month.

Attended by the members of the Environmental Management Committee composed of different
national government agencies, local government units, non-governmental organizations, civic
and people’s organization, and academes.
The kick off pursues the ridge to reef approach, a holistic approach of protecting and
rehabilitating both the upland and the lowland, acknowledging the relationship and the
connection of both ecosystems.
“I am hoping that this movement will continue, so that our children will benefit from this. This is
not just a compliance to the mandate of the government, but this is a responsibility that must be
practiced by each one of us. Let's continue inspiring others in protecting the environment, after
all, it is us who will suffer if we will not act now.” said Capiz Governor Esteban Evan B.
Contreras during message.
A total of 1,750 native and fruit bearing trees were planted in the Dao.
