2023 Malaysian Level Bamboo Competition Brief 27072023
There are swing games all over the world and there are different ways to build them.
实验 Experiment
❖ This design is non-stationary in use
❖ Must be tested through solid modelling or experiments.
❖ Buildable by a team of 6 people on site
Green School, Bali by Studio Ibuku. Section drawing and on-site experiment
The Site
The venue for the bamboo structure building competition is located in Nansha Bird Park, Guangzhou, China.
Located in the southern-most tip of Guangzhou, Nansha Wetland Park is a great place to escape the city and
embrace true nature
Location
Can select for the actual site from various spot indicated by the red spot
1. Waterfront Platform
Square Platform flat type size:Within 5 x 6m,about 4.5m high
Rectangular Platform size: Within 3 x 8m, about 4.5m high
Competition Requirement
1. Design Requirements:
Designing a bamboo structure installation with a swing game.
2. 2. Sizes: Square Site dimensions: within 5 x 5 meters and up to 4.5 meters in height
Long Site (rectangular): within 3 x 8 m and up to 4.5 m in height
3. It's not that the size has to be so large, it's just within the range and can be constructed in a few days by
the team
4. Requirements for use:There are some "swings" with a rocking function for tourists to play, in line with
the scale of human use.
5. Material structure: the main structure is raw bamboo material, structural skin integration, combined with
the characteristics of bamboo, structure and construction with exploration innovation. Other materials can
be used as enclosure materials, however, need to consider the connection of the materials with bamboo.
Bamboo can be used as a whole bamboo of different sizes, bamboo pieces, bamboo gabions, etc., which
can be used imaginatively.
6. Experimental: advancing the design through certain material and structural experiments and documenting
the experimental and design process.
7. Line of sight: catering for multi-dimensional viewing, internal and external viewing and night effects.
8. Safety: meet the requirements of safety for people of all ages and good wind resistance.
