ACTIVITY 2 – HOMEPOD AND HCI

1. What is a Smart Home and why it is the future of Human Computer Interaction?
Smart home is our house that is equipped with Electronic Appliances with the control of
the Electronic Devices and Electronic Applications to make our life easier and less
productive in terms of exerting too much effort like opening up the curtain, turning on or
turning off the lights, closing the door manually, talking to your relatives or family face
to face and ETC, with the use of Smart Home it makes things easier to communicate and
automated the specific task at our home for closing the door automatically, turning on or
off the lights automatically, opening up the curtains automatically and ETC, this is
important this is because this save’s a lot of time, and time is important to us people
every seconds and minutes that is passing is important, as time can affect the productivity
of us person in a day, and Smart Home also give more productive to do things
simultaneously with just the use of an Electronic Application or Devices, this is the future
of Human Computer Interaction. as we can see how the technology evolves in our ERA,
it makes things easier and less complicated in all kinds of aspects.

2. What makes a good Smart Home device? List down features that you noticed on the
Apple Event Video.
What I notice at the video, is how modern the Smart Home device or Homepod device
that apple had made, as it has good features for a cheap price, this good features consist
the Amazing Sound that the homepod gives, it gives high quality output for us to hear
the sounds clearly from the apps such as podcast, music, radio and ETC. Intelligent
Assistant as we can connect the Homepod with the SIRI, and ask SIRI for assistant and
give us Information for Educational, Entertainment, Weather, Calendar and ETC with
just the use of our Voice Recognition. Smart Home we can also use the homepod for
making activities at our home less exertion of effort, as we can just command the
homepod to do the task automatically with the use of our Voice Recognition, for example
dimming the lights, closing the door securely, sending message to your family with the
appliances of apple and ETC., and most importantly the Privacy and Security feature
that the homepod gives, as it will only work if your devices is only near at the homepod
because of the encryption process to prevent leakage of personal and information and to
protect your privacy to strangers.

3. How do you interact with a smart home device? List down the possible interactions.
We can interact with the homepod devices with the use of our voices, and SIRI will set
up a Voice Recognition to remember our voices to secure our privacy, and after setting it
up we can use our Voices to command homepod devices that is connected with SIRI with
the things that we want to command for Example asking what time is it, what is the day
tomorrow, what is the population of the Philippines, who is the 15 th president, what is 6x3
and ETC we can gain information with just the use of our voices, we can also use the
homepod devices to interact with our relatives with the use of Intercom app as we can
send them the message automatically, and the notification of voices message will pop up
at their apple devices, we can also use homepod to automatically set up a task with the
use of Electronic Appliances that apple have, for example closing the door securely,
dimming the lights, opening up the curtain and ETC, with just the use of our voices.

4. What do you think are the advantages and disadvantages of having a smart home
device?

 NOT ALL THE TIME THE SYSTEM IS CONSISTENT
