ANS: The first large oil reservoir was discovered by ARAMCO in March 1938AD in
Dammam no 7.

4. How did oil export began in Saudi Arabia?


ANS: After the discovery of huge amount of stored oil in Dammam no 7, Saudi Arabia
started to export oil to other countries. Oil was loaded onto shipping tankers in 1939AD and
this began the huge exports that Saudi Arabia now has.
5. Explain the process of bringing oil to the surface
ANS: Once oil is discovered the next process is to bring oil to the surface. A drilling rig is
placed over the area where oil is thought to be. The rig then digs downwards producing a
borehole. Once the oil reservoir is found, the oil flows up this borehole to the surface.
Pumps are sometimes used to help the oil get to the surface.

6. How was oil discovered in Saudi Arabia?


ANS: Oil was discovered in Saudi Arabia in 1930’sAD. In 1933AD, King Abdul Aziz
signed an agreement with an oil company from America to search for oil within the country.
The first discovery of oil was made after 5 years of exploration by ARAMCO in Dhahran
Mountain.

7. What is the huge pipeline in Saudi Arabia Called?


ANS: The huge pipeline in Saudi Arabia that connects the Arabian Gulf to the
Mediterranean coast is known as the Trans-Arabian Pipeline currently suspended and
replaced with East-West pipeline.
