Anwer Khan Modern University

Department of Textile Engineering

Program: Bachelor of Science in Textile Engineering

Course Code: TEX-217, Course Title: Textile Fiber II

General Instructions and Course Outline

Course overview: This course is designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of the

different types of synthetic and regenerated fibers, their manufacturing processes, properties, and
applications. The course aims to equip students with knowledge of the various types of man-
made fibers and their properties, including mechanical, thermal, electrical, and chemical
properties. Students will learn about the different manufacturing processes involved in producing
man-made fibers, including melt spinning, wet spinning, dry spinning, and extrusion. The course
will also cover the properties of man-made fibers such as strength, durability, flexibility,
elasticity, and moisture management. Furthermore, students will understand the application areas
of different types of man-made fibers, including apparel, home furnishings, technical textiles,
and industrial applications. Overall, the course aims to provide students with a comprehensive
understanding of the properties and applications of man-made fibers, which will enable them to
select the appropriate fiber for a specific application.

Objectives and learning outcomes:

 To provide an understanding of the various types of made fibers, their properties, and
manufacturing processes.
 To teach the principles of textile manufacturing and their applications in the production
of various types of fabrics and materials.
 To introduce the latest advancements and technologies in made fiber and textile
manufacturing.
 To provide hands-on experience in textile production, including the operation of
machinery and equipment.
 To develop problem-solving and critical thinking skills in the context of textile
manufacturing.
 To emphasize the importance of quality control, sustainability, and environmental impact
in textile production.
 To prepare students for careers in the textile and apparel industry or related fields.

Methods of teaching: Methods involve instructions in the class and course related industrial
visiting. Language of instructions is English. Multimedia based classes are taken for
understanding more clearly.
