1 PRINCIPLE

Induction cooking is based on the physics principle of Foucault current heat-

ing of materials with electrical conductivity. Foucault currents originate from
these types of materials when they are exposed in an alternative electromag-
netic field.

5 Induction coil
6 Converter

8 Control accessory

The induction coil positioned under the pyroceram is supplied by a converter

that transforms the network energy in alternative currents at high frequencies.
These alternative currents generate an alternative electromagnetic field that
crosses the pyroceram and induces the transformed Foucault current into
heat at the base of the receptacle.

Contrary to traditional electrical hotplates, an induction hotplate does not

heat.
The glass heats indirectly and only with the contact of the base of the
receptacle.
In as much as the induction exists only when the magnetic field is closed with
a metallic receptacle, the heating of the cook pot ceases instantly when it is
removed from the hotplate.
The cook pot must be made of magnetic-steel.

4 INSTALLATION

The cook top is fitted into the work bench with a simple incision. Any type of
support may be used; certain plastic materials are not recommended in that
they are subject to deformation with heating at around 100°. Take care to pro-
vide a space of 50 mm between the rear incision of the cook top and the rear
part of the work bench in order to avoid burning the wall or the cook top
cover – especially if the cover is stratified.
Particular care should be taken, during positioning, of the joint that covers the
border of the cook top to avoid any type of infiltration into the cabinet part of
the work bench.

Very important
It is imperative to ensure that the fitting of the pyroceram is on a perfectly flat
surface. The deformations provoked by a defective fitting may risk the altera-
tion of the cook top’s characteristics and therefore its performance.

Operation
Caution prior to use. The glue used for the joints deposits, during storage,
traces of grease on the glass. It is recommended that these traces are re-
moved, prior to using the cook top, with a common cleaning product (non
abrasive luster cream). During the first hours of use, a rubber odor is released
which is quickly dispersed.

The cook top corresponds to a fitting in of type X (standard CEI 335-2-6).

The cook top should not be fitted into an oven with rear evacuation. If
the cook top is installed above an oven – in order to avoid any type of
over-heating of the cook top’s electrical components – it is imperative to
provide a space between the upper sheath of the oven and the bottom part
of the work bench, of 560 mm in width and 8 mm in height.

Avoid placing a dishwasher underneath the cook top bench. In which case,
place an airtight separation between the two appliances.

6 SAFETY

Diverse safety measures may be used in order to protect the cook top’s
electronic components.

6.1 Overheating of the hotplate

Each hotplate is protected by a thermal safety that renders it momentarily
unusable in cases of overheating (forgetting a full or empty cook pot, de-
formed cook pot base …).
Over heating is signaled by a flashing signal (slide on the upper part) of the
luminous column of the hotplate. If the small parts are in operation the pro-
gramming is annulled.
When the temperature returns to normal, the flashing signal disappears, the
hotplate may be used, the cooking speed will need to be reset.

6.2 Over heating of an electronic module

A prolonged use of the cook top with a poor installation may cause overheat-
ing of the electrical components.
A thermal safety can momentarily reduce the power of the two left or right
hotplates: this is normal.
The safety measure is signaled by a flashing signal (slide on the lower part) of
the two luminous columns of the corresponding hotplates. If the small parts
are operating, the programming is annulled. When the temperature returns to
normal, the hotplates acquire their original power settings.

6.3 Overflow safety

In cases of liquid spills on the side of the control panel, the hotplates and
small parts in operation will momentarily be unusable.
The safety operation is signaled by a flashing signal of the 4 luminous col-
umns and by a ‘bip’ sound. To stop the ‘bip’ sound, clean the cook top. To
stop the flashing signal, activate the control panel by depressing the knob
for 2 seconds.

6.4 Signal of a cook pot

Each induction hotplate is equipped with a cook pot signal. The hotplate sup-
plies power only with the presence of an appropriate cook pot. The flashing
signal of the luminous column may signal:
• a cook pot in incompatible material, non magnetic-steel,
• a cook pot with a base diameter too small,
• the removal of a cook pot.
Select an appropriate cook pot suitable to the hotplate, small cook pots
are appropriate for the smaller hotplates.
The column flashes for 40 seconds and then stops. The hotplate may not op-
erate.
