13. Indicators of local and global climate change?

14. impact of climate change on the different sectors of our society?

- Climate change could affect our society through impacts on the number of different social, cultural,
and natural resources. For example, climate change could affect human health, infrastructure, and
transportation systems, as well as energy, food, and water supplies.

- Some groups of people will likely face bigger challenges than others. Climate change may especially
affect people who live in areas that are vulnerable and prone to coastal storms, tsunami, drought, and
sea level rise or people who live in poverty, older adults, and immigrant communities. Similarly, some
types of professions and industries may face considerable challenges from climate change. Professions
that are closely linked to weather and climate, such as outdoor tourism, commerce, and agriculture, will
likely be especially affected, (snapshot.epa.gov, 2016).

- According to iberdrola.com (2020), climate change is one of the biggest threats to economic stability.
Heatwaves make us weak, less able to work and reduce productivity. Hurricanes, cyclones and typhoons
devastate millions of people, leaving them in absolute poverty after ruthlessly sweeping away their
communities. Droughts shrink harvests, further failing the arduous task of feeding the population of the
world, which is expected to reach 10 billion by 2050 (World Population Prospects 2019, United Nations
Organization). The World Bank is warning: if we don't do something as soon as possible, climate change
could cause 100 million more people into poverty by 2030.

15. global response against climate change?

Given the impacts of climate change to different sectors of society, here are the global response to
combat climate change.

- Recognize that the threat of climate change is clear and proliferating

- commence an international study to traverse scientifically informed targets for atmospheric

greenhouse gas concentrations, and their associated emissions scenarios, that will enable nations to get
rid of the effects deemed unacceptable.

- Identify cost-effective steps that can be utilized to contribute to substantial and long-term reduction in
net global greenhouse gas emissions. Recognize that delayed action will increase the risk of adverse
environmental destruction and will likely incur a greater cost.

- Work with developing nations to establish a scientific and technological capability best suited to their
circumstances, enabling them to create innovative solutions to mitigate and adapt to the adverse effects
of climate change, while explicitly recognizing their legal development rights.

- Show leadership and willingness in developing and deploying clean energy technologies and
approaches to energy efficiency and share this knowledge with all other nations so that they can benefit
to the advantages that comes out of that knowledge.

- Mobilize the science and technology community to enhance research and development efforts, which
can better inform climate change decisions, (Royalsociety.org, 2005)
16. adaptation and mitigation strategies?

- These are some of the mitigation measures that can be taken to avoid the increase of pollutant
emissions:

 Practice Energy efficiency

 Greater use of renewable energy
 Electrification of industrial processes
 Efficient means of transport implementation: electric public transport, bicycle, shared cars ...
 Carbon tax and emissions markets

In terms of adaptation measures, there are several actions that help reducing vulnerability to the
consequences of climate change:

More secure facility locations and infrastructures

Landscape restoration (natural landscape) and reforestation

Flexible and diverse cultivation to be prepared for natural catastrophes

Research and development on possible catastrophes, temperature behavior, etc.

Preventive and precautionary measures (evacuation plans, health issues, etc.), (activesustainability.com,
2019).
