on time Management
INTRODUCTION
§ Umar ibn Al-Khattab (RA) said: “I dislike that
a man is free and not preoccupied by the
matter of his religion or the matter of his
worldly life.”
§ We all are familiar with the most famous
proverbs “Time is money” and “Time is Gold”.
Time has great importance in the life of a human
being.
§ Time is a blessing on all of us. We should
concentrate on how we use time according to
Islamic perspective. Allah has clearly stated the
value of time in Quran. We should make the use
of time wisely to increase our faith in this life
and the hereafter too.
IMPORTANCE OF TIME
§ Indeed, we displease Allah when we misuse
time. We must remember that time must
be spent to fulfill our very purpose in life,
that is to worship Allah during our lives.
§ The importance of time isn’t limited to
Ramadan. So much of Islam revolves
around time. Muslims must be conscious
of time in all that they do, particularly
when it comes to prayers, zakat, and
fasting. When duties and good deeds aren’t
performed on time, they lose meaning,
impact, and blessings.
PROPHET MUHAMMAD
(SAW)’S SAYINGS ON TIME
§ Narrated by ‘Abdullah bin Sa’eed bin Abu Hind
that his father said: “I heard Ibn ‘Abbas saying
that the Messenger of Allah said: ‘There are two
blessings which many people squander:
Good health and leisure.’ ”

§ The Prophet (SAW) said: “Make the most of

five things before five others: life before
death, health before sickness, free time
before becoming busy, youth before old
age, and wealth before poverty.”
QURAN’S SAYING ON TIME
The Almighty Allah says in the Holy
Quran in Chapter Al-Asr about the
importance of time: “By time, indeed,
mankind is in loss, except for those
who have believed and done
righteous deeds and advised each
other to truth and advised each
other to patience.” (Quran, 103: 1-3).
The Ayahs explain the worth of time in life of a Muslim. The Creator of the world of
the worlds declares time as a great measure of one’s success or failure. The Exalted
One says that with every advancing moment of existence, human has a great
warning that is associated with it.
TIME MANAGEMENT
Praying Salah on time
§ Salah is obligatory on every Muslim to pray 5
times a day on time.
§ Importance of praying Salah on time can be
understood by this hadith:
“Abdullah asked the Prophet (SAW): “Which
deed is the dearest to Allah?”
He replied, “to offer the prayers at their
early stated fixed times”. (Sahih al-
Bukhari 527)
§ We being Muslims, need to prepare for our Akhirah, and always do good deeds.
We never know when our soul will leave our body and life after death is eternal.
§ Therefore, we should pray Salah on time, and our best effort should be in the
direction of praying Salah in the early hour, leaving all our work aside.
TIME MANAGEMENT
How to recite one para of Quran each day
§ As muslims, we feel difficult to recite one juz of Quran (20 pages) in one go.
§ We should recite Quran in parts to complete our goal of reciting one para
each day.
§ One juz of Quran has approximately 20 pages. If we divide it into 5 parts, &
recite each part of it after every prayer, it will be 4 pages after each prayer.
§ This will help us to recite one juz of Quran efficiently & effortlessly.

CONCLUSION
§ Islam distributed its great acts of worship over the parts of the
day and the seasons of the year to form an accurate, precise
system that organizes the Islamic life and measures it with
minutes, from the rise of dawn till sunset.
§ Every day, hour, or moment that passes cannot be regained
and thus cannot be compensated for. This meaning was
expressed by Al-Hasan Al-Basri (RA) when he said: “Every
day calls, saying: ‘O son of Adam, I am a new creation
and I am a witness on your deeds, so take provisions
from me for if I pass, I do not return until the Day of
Judgment.’”
CONCLUSION
§ ‘Umar ibn ‘Abdul-‘Aziz (RA) said: “Night and day consume
you, so consume them.”
§ Al-Hasan Al-Basri (RA) said: “O son of Adam! indeed you
are nothing but a number of days, and whenever each
day passes, a part of you perishes.” That is why we
should be keen on benefiting from time.
§ Everything, when lost, can be regained, except time. If it is lost,
there is no hope to regain it. That is why time is the most
precious thing that can ever be possessed in this life.

Therefore, Time is not only gold as the common proverb

goes, but it is more precious than gold, pearls, and coral.
