elements of a script; Dialogue, Characters, Setting
and Stage directions.

As a class, read through the script excerpts from the

stage show of the sapphires. Have different students
take a turn at being the different characters.
Hand out the different scripts around the room. Try
to make it so that each student has a different script
from the person they are sitting next to. Then have
the students complete the following activities.
- Highlight and label an example of each of the
following: - setting, character, stage
directions and dialogue. (they only need to
label one example, not everything.)
- Write a short summary of what the plot of
the excerpt was – what was happening in
this scene.
- What are some similarities and differences
between this script and the stage show
(think about – plot, characters etc.)
- Find an example of aboriginal or Vietnamese
language that helps to create the characters.

Share the answers as a class.
