1. Culmination: : the culmination is the
highest or last point of a process.

Example:
Graduating from high school is the
culmination of many students´ education.

2. Expanse: An expanse is a vast, open area

of water, land or sky.

Example:
Our beach house was overlooking an
expanse of ocean.
3. Frigid: something frigid is extremely cold.

Example:
Alaska has a frigid climate.

4. Prime: to prime something is to prepare it or

make it ready.

Example:
Athletes will prime themselves for some Olympic
Games by exercising in high altitudes.

gave it up for the sake of something else.

Example:

Amundsen wanted to be the first person to
reach the North Pole
Scott was trying to reach the South Pole,
too; Scott would be in competition with
Amundsen and might get there first.
It was too cold to travel, the explorers had
to wait.
Scott started out later, he had a much larger
expedition; Amundsen´s group went a different
way and made faster progress.
