Chapter 3.

System Settings-1
(INITIAL SET/USER SET Menu)

This chapter describes INITIAL SET and USER SET menu, including SILENT
MODE settings.

3.1 How to enter the INITIAL SET menu


Procedure:
1. Press the [MENU] key, and select “4.INITIAL
NITIAL SET” and press the [ENT] key.
2. Select “7.EDIT” and press the [ENT] key to display the LOCK/UNLOCK pop-up
screen.
3. Select “UNLOCK” and press the [ENT] key
y to display the password input screen.

4. Enter the password: x6x5x2x1x1x1, refer to FURUNO Information “FQ4-2016-006”.

5. The item, “7.EDIT,” will change to the UNLOCK state, where the INITIAL SET
menu can be set.

To return to the LOCK state, go to EDIT -> LOCK or leave the menu for 180
seconds after exiting the INITIAL SET screen.

3.2 INITIAL SET


3.2.1 SHIP’S INFORMATION
Set mandatory static information, such as information on the Maritime Mobile Service
Identity (MMSI) number and ship’s name.
Data reception is possible without MMSI settings, in which case, however, the
transmission of position reports and messages ages is prohibited, and the 001: TX
MALFUNCTION error will be output.

Procedure:
1. Go to [MENU] -> 4.INITIAL SET -> 7.EDIT -> UNLOCK, and enter the
password so that the FA-170 will be in an UNLOCK (editable) state.

2. Open [MENU] -> 1.SHIP’S INFORMATION.

3. Register the MMSI, NAME, IMO NO., CALL SIGN, and TYPE OF SHIP items.
There is no need to change the CH C: 1075 and CH D: 1076 settings in [LONG
RANGE].

• MMSI
Enter the 9-digit MMSI number with the cursor keys. If the MMSI number
has not been registered, “- - -” will be displayed.
• NAME
Register the ship’s name. Use the editing box, edit the ship’s name within 20
characters, and press the SET button.

3.2 INITIAL SET

• IMO NO.
Enter the 7-digit IMO number following “00” with the cursor keys. If the IMO
number has not been registered, “0 . . . 0” will be displayed.

• CALL SIGN
Register the call sign. Use the editing box, edit the call sign within seven
characters, and press the SET button.

• TYPE OF SHIP
Use the cursor keys and enter the type of ship (e.g., a cargo ship, tanker, and
passenger ship) along with the cargo type.
A two-digit number represents the type of ship and cargo type, where the 10’s
digit indicates the type of ship and the 1’s digit indicates the cargo type. Enter
“70” in the case of a cargo ship, for example.
It is possible to set the cargo type in the [NAV STATUS] menu. The type of
cargo in the [NAV STATUS] menu and nd the SHIP’S INFORMATION menu
will be reflected mutually.

• [LONG RANGE]
Make channel settings to report messages via satellite, and select the channel
CH 1075, 1076, 75, and 76. All of them are simplex channels. Make the
following settings: CH-C: 1075 and CH-D: 1076. There is no need to change.
If “Japan” is set in 7.SERVICE -> 2.AIS SET -> 1.REGULATION, no
[LONG RANGE] setting items will be displayed.
CH75, 1075: 156.775 MHz CH76, 1076: 156.825 MHz
