The pardoning power

of the President

1. Pardon (explains it self)

2. Commutation (Commute ~ form one place to other, means one

form of punishment is substituted with lighter form).

3. Remission (Remission ~ Emission so remember to Reduce,

means reducing the period of sentence without changing its
character).

4. Respite (Res ~ Less, means awarding less punishment due to

special case, disability / pregnant.

5. Reprieve (Rip ~ Zip, so stay at the place, means a stay of the

execution of a sentence (especially that of death) to have time to
seek pardon).

Types of Writs

Indian Constitution empowers the Supreme Court to

issue ve types of writs. Simply remember ‘CPM Head
Quarters’ and the answer lies in the capital letters in it:

‘C’ stands for Certiorari,

‘P’ stands for Prohibition,

‘M’ for Mandamus,

‘H’ for Habeus Corpus and

‘Q’ stands for Quo Warranto

Election of President
and VP

Who all participate in the election/removal of President and Vice-

President (VP)? Now most candidates get confused in these. I have
made a very small simple write up for it –

President (lection) – all elected (MPs + MLAs) (removal) – all MPs

Vice-President (election) – all elected + nominated MPs (removal) –

all MPs

Notice that in 3 out of 4 cases, it’s all MPs and only for election of
President it’s all Elected MPs + MLAs.

That is therefore highlighted and underscored. I hope now, you will

not make mistake in questions like these.

Sessions in
Parliament

B.M.W stands for BUDGET, MONSOON, WINTER

sessions of loksabha, B starts (feb to may), M starts
(june to sept), W starts(nov to dec)..

to constituent assembly who prepare draft of
