The Ark Legacy Project site is located on 1,000 hectares of land in Canaanland, Ota, Nigeria. The main building, modeled after Noah's Ark, is 318m wide and 72m tall with a radius of 1km, making it the world's largest column-less auditorium. It has 8 floors and two 12-floor towers, with a total capacity of 106,000 people. Solar panels and greywater systems will help the building achieve LEED Platinum certification for sustainability. Deep columns 900mm in diameter support the heavy structure, with reinforcement bars ranging from 8-32mm.

Site Report To the Ark Legacy Project Slated for 25th April,2023 Given By
Azuma- Obinna Somsi 200l Architecture.
The project is sited Sited on about 1,000 hectares of land at the old Faith Academy compound within the premises of the current church building, Canaanland, Ota, Nigeria. The concept for the Ark Legacy Project is Noah’s Ark is to be a palace-like structure intended for worship. It consists of the main building (bowl) and the Mission Towers (twin towers). The main bowl spans a width of 318m and is 72 m in height. It also has a radius of 1km. This is to be the world’s largest column-less span of an auditorium. The building is also said to have a rotating altar. It is an 8-floor building and the twin tower is 12 floors and both have a basement included. The total capacity of the Ark Legacy Project is 106,000.It is designed such that all services required to maintain the building are present. Arc. Segun was our guide. The roof of the “bowl” is an inverted dome with roof gutters placed 4m to the adjacent one. One technique employed in the project was placing an atrium above the elevator in the twin towers. The roofing system employed in the twin tower is a flat concrete roof that will be installed by a team of specialists from China. The twin towers also have a helicopter pad for the chancellor’s use. The team is working hard to ensure the building is LEED Platinum certified. As a result, Solar capturing devices were placed on the North-East side of the buildings that will generate at least 1 megawatt of energy that would be used to cater to the energy needs of the project. In addition, the bowl has collapsible doors (85 m by 10m) which can be opened to achieve maximum ventilation. Also, greywater systems will be employed so that water is recycled. Initially presumed to be flat land, it was discovered through traditional surveying methods that the land had a 4-5m sloped. This worked in the project’s favor as it was to create additional parking (300 vehicles) and used for overflow control (40,000 people). Cross-like ramps were placed on some of the sides of the building which aid the exit/entry into the building. The total number of toilets is 1200 spread across 4 wings suited to accommodate the building’s large capacity. Shear walls cover/encase some of the toilets and parts of the elevation. They will be placed on columns as they do not assist in bearing the load of The Ark. Since it is a heavy structure, the columns used on the ark are 900 mm in diameter and have a depth of 28m in the ground to fully support the structure’s weight. Some of the building materials have been specified, for example, the reinforcement used is made in 8-32 mm diameter. During a downpour, the concrete strength is tested again because the water ratio has increased. .
