Answer all the following questions

Q1: Calculate the air-fuel ratio required to completely burn 1 kg of fuel has the
formula (C7H10). If this amount of air is increased by 12%; calculate the
equivalence air - fuel ratio.
B: Explain the difference between the normal combustion, and abnormal
combustion.

Q2: A- What do you understand by burning time losses? How can such losses be
reduced?
B: What do you understand by knock or detonation in SI engines? Explain this
phenomenon. How does the knock in SI engines differ from the knock in CI engines?
C: Define fuel, name the various fuels commonly used in combustion processes,
Describe one of them.

Q3: A Dual combustion cycle operates with a compression ratio of 12 and with a cut-
off ratio of 1.615. The maximum pressure is 52.17 bar. The pressure and
temperature before compression are 1 bar and 62°C respectively. Assuming the
compression and expansion are happened with PV1.35 =constant calculate (a) the
temperatures at cardinal points, (b) the cycle efficiency, and (c) the mean effective
pressure of the cycle.

Q4: A: Mention at least five different parameters used to test / measure the
performance of the engine, explain on of this methods?

B: Nowadays there are different technologies and methods to improve the

transportation sector in manufacturing or fuel resources. Explain one of these
technologies

Take: cv = O.718 kJ/ kg K, cp = 1.005 kJ/ kg K, R = O.287 kJ/kg K
