PECC Exam – 26th of January 2022 – Row 1

1st Subject: Please consider the following circuit. There are known: R1 = 1kΩ, L1 = 10mH, C1 =
1µF, v(t)= 2sin(ωt) [V].

a) Please determine the following parameters for the v(t) signal: average value, amplitude,
effective value and period for ω=103 rad/s. Plot the time variation of the signal for two
periods. (1.5p)
b) Considering ω=103 rad/s, please determine the modulus of the equivalent impedance of
the above circuit. (0.75p)
c) What should be the value for ω in order that the circuit’s equivalent impedance modulus
to be purely resistive? (0.75p)
2nd Subject:
a) Variable resistors – Rheostat topology (equivalent circuit, the variation of the current
through the potentiometer versus the cursor’s position). (1p)
b) Please describe and show the significance for the following parameters for capacitors:
the insulating resistance, respectively the loss-angle tangent. (1p)
c) Please describe one coil’s winding properties taking into consideration the following
aspects: the maximum current through a coil, the parasitic resistance value and the skin
effect. (1p)
3rd Subject: Please consider the circuit from the picture below with the following parameters:
R1 = 1kΩ, R2=1kΩ, R3 = 2kΩ, C = 400nF. The voltage supply – v(t) – generates the signal from the
chronogram:

a) Please calculate the average value of the signal above. (0,5p)

b) Using a Thevenin equivalence, propose for the above circuit an equivalent one which
consists only from a resistance and a capacitance. (1p)
c) What is the above circuit’s time constant? (0,5p)
d) Please draw the time variation of the voltage across the capacitance for the first period of
the input signal. At the initial moment, the capacitance is considered completely
discharged. (1p)
